For our Client a mobile telco in Switzerland -Renens- we are looking for a senior Core network architect that will define the core network evolution path towards a 5G distributed service architecture.

Your duties
•    Define the future COMPANY core network architecture: Service based architecture, SDN, IP Fabric for core network nodes, 5G SA core network, Voice over NR, QoS strategy, slicing, CI/CD.
•    Lead and steer the discussions with our core network vendor to jointly define the architectural changes required in The COMPANY core network.
•    Evaluate the vendor technical proposals and challenge them from a feasibility, practicality, timing, cost / benefit ratio and suitability point of view.
•    Review and finalise scope of work proposals from vendors. Getting them to “ready for commercial discussions”.
•    Owner of the 3 year core network SW & HW roadmap. Lead the discussions with our core network vendor to define our core roadmap in terms of evolutions required for the packet, voice and registers domains.
•    Manage quarterly roadmap reviews with the core vendor.
•    Work together with core network domain experts to define our roadmap and achieve internal consensus.
•    Preparation communication material regarding core evolution to communicate internally (within the team and to the rest of the organisation) and externally (with vendors).
•    Be part of a team of architects, reporting directly to the E2E architecture Director, in charge of the development and implementation of the 5G E2E service architecture.
•    An architect in The COMPANY has full responsibility about the decisions he makes. You will also lead some of the projects engaged to deliver the core network platforms, architectures and / or processes that you have designed.

What you bring
•    Master degree in Telecoms or Electrical Engineering.
•    7+ years of professional experience in the core network domains.
•    In depth knowledge of more than one core network domain required: PS (mandatory) + CS, IMS or HLR.
•    In depth knowledge of 4G and 5G NSA / SA architectures. Knowledge on slicing, CI/CD and Orchestration.
•    You can demonstrate that in your professional experience you have done things in the real world (network), not only produced slides and participated to meetings and RFPs.
•    Demonstrated experience in leading definition of Core network architecture and evolution.
•    Good knowledge of Cloud environments and their challenges.
•    Nokia core network equipment experience is a plus.
•    You have never stopped learning new things during all your career. Not afraid of starting a project without having all the knowledge. Resourceful to find the information you need. Self learner, Self-driven, Self-motivated. Eager to learn. Eager to explore.
•    Interested in defining and creating a vision whilst keeping your feet in the ground.
•    You are able to assess the maturity of a technology or a solution just with a limited number of exchanges with vendor experts. You are able to choose what makes sense and what does not at any given point in time.
•    Not afraid of making decisions. You can make a quick decision when it’s needed. You also know when it is better to wait as the next step is not completely clear. You have technology intuition.
•    Not afraid of changing things. Not afraid of challenging suppliers. You are able to listen. You are able to integrate feedback. It’s not about being right. It’s about making the right decision independently of whether it is your idea or somebody else’s.
•    Good analytical and abstract thinking skills: Able to find innovative solutions to complex problems. Team worker. Willing to make a contribution and to make a difference. Able to work with colleagues and vendors around a white board.
•    You take a top down approach to solve problems and manage projects. You start first with the bigger picture. You are able to leave small details and problems to be tackled only after the high level solution is defined and agreed. You are able to identify show stoppers from things that can be solved and do not need immediate attention.
•    Very good presentation & communication skills to unpack complex messages to senior management and non-technical teams.
•    Easily approachable, friendly, & proactive in identifying areas for improvement.
•    English fluent (C1). Other languages are a plus.
