Our Client is a part of the Nordic states into the top 100 world companies in their sector of pharmaceutical manufacturer of anti-cancer and anti-diabetes medicines, heart and cardiovascular, CNS, generics and originals, as well as hospital services too. They are expanding internationally and right now in Romania and in Bulgaria.
The scope of the role is to enter into these countries and initially set up the business with local clients, create business plans and, in time, develop a sales team of 10 – 20 people within the 1st year, but realistically, 2nd and 3rd year will be “the growth years” for these local organisations.
This is a role for an YOUNG EAGER TO SUCCEED Sales Manager or Business Unit Manager who can PIONEER the entire process and is able to grow together with the Company.

Within the 1st year this manager will be standing alone in each country therefore they will be very independent and proactive. This person will have to travel sometimes inside the assigned territory at a national level, and will work independently (remotely) and will report to an Export Area Director abroad.
We welcome primarily pharmaceutical (RX) sales experience but also candidates with great sales experience in domains such are chemicals, diapers, pharma generics, hospital medical services sales and medical equipment, gloves, sterilization materials, surgical drapes, paper items – towels etc
There is a strong chance for this person to become the local (country) general manager once the business is set up and growing and a team developed.
BDM who covered both Romania & Bulgaria may also have a very strong chance on this role!
Responsibilities:
The Country Business Development Manager will:
- Oversee the sales objectives, goals and revenue;
- Sets all the strategic objectives of our client’s products – alongside market analysis (potential, competitors, evolution);
- In time, they will have the chance to manage teams and sales personnel, also manage division managers across the country.
- Approves and manages large client contracts
- Develops strong business relationships with national strategic accounts (health providers e.g. hospitals, pharmacies etc)
- Develops new strategic partnerships in Romania and/or in Bulgaria (health providers)
- Farming and hunting by identifying new business opportunities on national and external markets (Ro and BG)
- Networking with healthcare providers and existing clients;
- Works closely with advertising and marketing professionals to improve sales pitches, campaigns and promotions.
- Set up a local team of ~10 in a 2 years time
- Provide excellent customer service in order to grow new relationships.
Important must-haves:
- University of Medicine/Pharmacy/Biotechnology preferred
- New Sales experience into the related sectors in the entire territory
- Proven experience on sales 3-5 years within generics / RX (CNS, ONCO, CARDIO, DIABETES etc) and hospital products OTCs and services
- Good experience of setting up a team or at least great potential as a future general manager
- Experience in cooperation with hospitals, tenders knowledge, relevant clients database build up, purchasing groups, networking, sales and hunting
- Proven sales results in pharmaceuticals, originals and/or generics /OTC as well, could also been exposed to medical device sector/medical services.
- Self -driven, very well organised, excellent communication, star profile.
Other requirements:
- Fluency in Romanian and English (C1/C2 level)
- Higher education
- Driving license. B
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Availability, readiness for frequent business trips (mainly within Romania)
- Focus on the results
- Very good organization of own work, independence, diligence, proactivity
- Easy to establish contacts and build relationships
- High personal culture
