As a Data Center Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in managing our data centre infrastructure. Your responsibilities encompass planning, installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of various components, such as servers, networking equipment, storage devices, and power/cooling systems. Your expertise ensures the seamless operation of our data centre, upholding high availability, performance, and security for critical IT systems.
This is an infrastructure-focused role, not an application-focused focused.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement data centre solutions aligned with business and technical needs.
- Install, configure, and deploy servers, networking devices, storage solutions, and other hardware within the data centre.
- Monitor and manage data centre operations, overseeing server health, network connectivity, and environmental conditions.
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks, including firmware updates, patch management, and hardware replacements for optimal performance and security.
- Swiftly troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network-related issues to minimize downtime and disruptions.
- Implement and uphold data centre security measures, including access controls, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems.
- Monitor power and cooling systems, ensuring efficient and reliable operation, and making necessary adjustments.
- Maintain accurate documentation of data center configurations, diagrams, and operational procedures.
- Contribute to capacity planning and performance tuning to accommodate business growth and changing requirements.
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans for data centre resilience and data protection.
- Participate in on-call rotations and respond to emergencies beyond regular business hours when necessary.
