Job Description
The Deputy General Manager- Café Operations- South and West is responsible for overseeing all café operations in the south and west regions. Working directly with the co-founder, this will include high-level strategy and oversight of financial and operational performance, people management and culture, inventory and customer service.
The candidate's responsibilities will include:
Sales, Reporting, and Financial Responsibility
- Drive PnL for region by through data-driven analysis of sales and expenses to ideate, execute and oversee both corrective and opportunistic strategies.
- Works closely with SCM team to oversee efficiency in inventory and supply chain operations to maintain adequate stock and improve availability while minimizing inventory holding periods.
- Responsible for ensuring that all financial duties and reporting are completed timely and accurately, and oversees all administrative tasks.
- Seeks to grow customer base and increase store traffic by creating and leading promotions in coordination with marketing within and outside the store as well as maintaining functional, efficient, pleasant store environment and high-quality food and beverage offerings alongside lesioning with different team in the organisation.
- Assist new business team in identify growth opportunities for new locations. Works with project team to ensure success of new store launches from both and operational and financial perspective and oversees the creation and development of café leadership capable of successfully launching new stores.
Leadership and Team Organization
This role requires very strong leadership skills to lead our future team strength of 300 + staff in the region.
- Leads and models overall culture, values, mission, and spirit of the company. Is knowledgeable about the ideals and principles of our client and ensures that our story is appropriately conveyed by staff and store environment.
- Communicates store goals to team effectively and motivates others.
- Work collaboratively with training team to implement and adjust adjusts, and implements training plans for new employees following the BTC’s schedule and materials.
- Develop area and store management and oversee the personal and professional growth of the café team. Ensures full understanding of challenges and opportunities and regularly coach and mentor staff on their performance, celebrating successes as well as discussing and offering suggestions if more feedback is needed
- Oversees store staffing levels and assists in hiring and promotion assessments.
- Organizes manpower to ensure adequate staffing at all time of café operations.
- Conducts regular management meetings to review financial reports, issues related to personnel, upcoming promotions, events, and activities, etc.-Helps to create positive, enthusiastic, and well-trained store culture by providing an informed, honest, and optimistic example for the team.
- Responds appropriately to ideas, concerns, complaints, and comments from management and staff.
- Ensure timely and appropriate communication of store, café, and company-wide information
Quality of Products, Functionality, Safety, and Store Appearance
- Oversees and executes effective communication between baristas and kitchen staff to ensure that food and beverage offerings are fresh, labelled appropriately, and kept well-stocked and most importantly as per the recipes. Guides direction of new seasonal food and beverage offerings and contributes any skills and ideas for new items.
- Ensures that all company and store standards, guidelines, and procedures are communicated and followed by staff at all times. Models all rules and policies and maintains safety features and security of café, FOH, and BOH operations.
- Works closely with facility team to develop and oversee systems for preventive and corrective maintenance of stores and equipment.
- Maintains, models, and coaches on speed of service and organizes employees to maintain the most efficient floor plan and deployment for serving customers on a regular basis.
