Job Summary
The Bank is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Deputy Managing Director / Chief Operating Officer (DMD/COO) to support the CEO in leading and managing the core operational, financial, and strategic functions of the Bank. The ideal candidate will play a critical leadership role in overseeing Banking Operations, Trade Finance, Financial Control, Information Technology, Corporate Communications, Corporate Services, and Human Resources.
This is a key executive position for a seasoned professional with a comprehensive understanding of banking operations and governance in France and internationally, especially across the EU, Emerging Markets (EM), and Africa.
Key Responsibilities
Executive Leadership & Strategic Support
- Support the CEO in formulating and executing the Bank’s strategic plans and operational policies.
- Serve as acting CEO in the absence of the CEO, ensuring continuity in leadership and decision-making.
Banking Operations & Trade Finance
- Oversee end-to-end banking operations and trade finance functions, ensuring compliance with local and international regulations.
- Drive operational efficiency, automation, and innovation in service delivery.
Financial Control & Risk Oversight
- Supervise the Bank’s finance function including financial planning, reporting, and control.
- Ensure robust risk management frameworks are implemented and aligned with regulatory standards.
Technology & Digital Transformation
- Lead the Bank’s IT and digital initiatives to modernize infrastructure and customer-facing platforms.
- Oversee cybersecurity, systems integration, and data governance programs.
Corporate Communications & Stakeholder Engagement
- Lead internal and external communications strategies to strengthen brand visibility and stakeholder trust.
- Represent the Bank in key engagements with regulators, partners, and the broader financial community.
Human Resources & Corporate Services
- Guide HR strategy covering talent acquisition, performance management, diversity and inclusion, and employee development.
- Oversee administration, procurement, facilities, and business continuity planning.
Requirements
Experience & Expertise
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive leadership experience in banking, with at least 5 years in a senior executive role.
- Proven track record in banking operations, trade finance, financial management, and enterprise-level transformation.
- Strong understanding of the banking regulatory environment in France and the EU.
- Experience across Emerging Markets (EM) and African banking landscapes is highly desirable.
Education & Skills
- Advanced degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related field.
- Professional certifications in banking or finance (e.g., CFA, ACIB, MBA) will be an advantage.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
- Bilingual fluency in French and English is mandatory.
