Responsibilities

Position Summary:
SW Engineering Director, responsible for Automotive Projects in ASIA Region, with the majority of the team located in various locations in ASIA (Vietnam, Malaysia, India). This position will supervise a team of about 3-5 Program Managers and Project Managers and a total of 50-70 engineers.
This position will report directly to the Snr Engineering Director, responsible for the Tier-1's projects globally.

What you will do:
Delivery Role: Oversee the deliveries for all the Programs delivered in ASIA.
• Negotiate with customer to understand and analyze program scope, program requirements, time, cost, program benefits.
• Develop and negotiate processes for changing scope and delivery acceptance procedures.
• Reporting and Providing metrics to management regarding ASIA programs health, costs, efforts.
• Escalate and ensure staff has the proper equipment, tools, training, and resources to accomplish assigned tasks within defined processes and procedures, while adhering to appropriate budgets
• Provide leadership, management and technical vision to entire engineering team.

Leadership: The Engineering director manages an entire engineering department, overseeing resources, staffing and maintenance of a first-class team.
• Stimulate hiring, career plans, training as well as performance reviews for software engineering team.
• Foster and maintain a positive and collaborative working environment based on mutual trust and customer orientation.
• Ensure psychological safety on your team
• Provide employee coaching, mentoring, development and team building.

Skills

Must have

• Bachelor degree in Computer Science or other similar specialization
• Technical Credibility: 7+ year's of technical experience, having various delivery roles (Test Engineer, Software Engineer, Functional Owner, etc)
• Management Credibility:
o 5+ years' Management experience in Automotive projects acting as Project Manager or Program Manager.
o 2+ years' experience as a Director of engineering preferred
• Experience in SW Development Lifecyle (Requirements, Scope, Design, Develop, Integrate, Test and Delivery to Customer)
• Exquisite brokering skills: regularly achieve consensus among stakeholders
• Collaborate effectively with others
• Demonstrate longevity at at least one recent jobs
• Ability to successfully manage a global remote-only team
• Demonstrated successful partnership with stable counterparts
• Demonstrate character, judgement, respect, diversity and inclusion in leadership
• Humble, servant leader
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
• Language: English fluent spoken/written; German knowledge would be an advantage
• Willingness to work in an office and to travel
