Our client is a leading global provider of technology products and services that support digital publishing, especially in the scientific, technical, engineering, and medical (STEM) domains. They are a tenured software product company, founded in 1998 and today, with several million STEM authors, 6 out of the 10 largest English language commercial publishers, and over 100 prestigious societies, associations, and university presses publishing content (including books and journals) on their platform. Their primary product engineering cum R&D center is 200+ strong and they continue to grow.
Role Details:
- Title / Designation: Engineering Manager
- Reporting to: Head of Software Engineering
- Location: Chennai
Role & Responsibilities:
- Own, create, maintain and execute on Release roadmaps aligned tightly with the Product roadmaps, with a carefully thought through judicious mix of new features, minor enhancements, bug fixes, tech debt repayment, and non-functional requirements.
- Work with domain, product management, and architecture functions to formulate product engineering solutions roadmap and guide the engineering teams accordingly, publishing, fine-tuning, and delivering on base-lined architectural, design, coding, testing, deployment, and support standards, guidelines and principles, on a continual basis
- Contribute to, mentor, and lead product development scrum team to perform the design of existing and new products, adhering to architectural and design principles, governing functional and non-functional requirements
- Steer test automation, to deliver products quickly, while meeting system and project expectations.
- Guide team with issues requiring technical expertise or complex systems knowledge
- As required, support solution demonstrations and managing relationships with stakeholders
- Provide support for production escalations and problem resolution for customers.
- Own and execute on the team skills matrix and talent fulfillment
- Hire, train, mentor, and own the career development of team members
Candidate requirements:
- Should have 10+ years of relevant Agile product engineering experience.
- Must be hands-on with coding, code reviews, unit testing & help the team by developing systems, when needed.
- Should be currently heading a development/engineering team or be an immediate report to the head of the function
