Overview
As the enterprise database domain owner, the enterprise database architect will develop and maintain enterprise database roadmap and strategy, lead evaluation and declaration of new database platforms, tools and technology standards including HA and DR, drive modernization and transformation of the legacy database platforms and tools, and adoption of cloud-based database platforms and solutions.
They would also partner with broad IT teams and provide oversight for proper usage of database platforms / tools and technology standards, ensure business and technology solutions are reliable, scalable, secure, supportable, and cost effective.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain enterprise database architecture roadmap and strategy.
- Establish enterprise database architectures and engineering standards and patterns.
- Lead evaluation and adoption of new database technologies and tools, and technology life cycle management for database domain.
- Guide engineering and operations teams to properly implement and sustain database platforms, tools, and technologies.
- Build an architecture community to evolve/adopt database technology standards, facilitate leverage and re-use, and ensure successful delivery of database technologies.
- Drive standardization and simplification across the enterprise to reduce overall total.
- Provide level 3 support for database operations.
- Build and maintain relationships with a wide array of stakeholders including CTO’s office, VP, Development leads, SR. Directors, and Directors.
Qualifications
- Minimum 15 years’ experience in enterprise database architecture strategy
- Minimum 15 years’ experience in Database Engineering and Architecture design for Oracle and SQL Server systems
- Develop and maintain Reference Architecture including HA and DR database solutions
- Develop and maintain patterns for DB compliance using Guardium/other tools and DB encryption using native and 3rd party solutions like Vormetric
- Proficiency in DB Backup/Recovery options in Azure using Rubrik/native options and cross-dc/cross-region replication patterns in Azure
- Drive Proof of Technology/Concepts (PoT/PoC's) for exploring new DB Technology solutions for Oracle, SQL Server and DB2 systems
- Develop PaaS DB design patterns for Azure SQL DB, Managed Instances, CosmosDB and other PaaS DB offerings
- Good understanding of Exadata Database Machine Architecture and Design
- Good understanding of IaaS/PaaS Services in Azure Cloud
