● Study of relation between the effects of microclimatic/macro-climatic factors, crop factors, soil factors and pests behavioral changes, growth and development, and ways to identify them.
● Researching the growth and multiplication conditions for each pests and developing models for tracking the pest growth and multiplication.
● Conduct research trials and field inspections, validate the existing pest forewarning models and make observations, and continuously work towards improving the accuracy of forewarning systems
● Develop data driven and precise practices for crops, better farming practices and find effective Agri solutions with more emphasis on the concept of integrated pest management model.
● Contribute to product development, crop modeling and support sales in technical aspects.
● Conduct field visits to monitor and help the farmers in identifying the signs and symptoms caused by insect pests to the crop.
Skills & Experience
● Ph.D/Masters in Horticulture with specialisation in Entomology (Ph.D will be preferred).
● Result-oriented mid-career scientist with at least 4-6 years of relevant working experience.
● Previous knowledge and experience of modeling techniques.
● Sound knowledge of insect pest interaction with plants and damage caused by them in different scenarios.
● Complete understanding of biology and life cycle of the insect pests
● Proficiency of statistical analysis.
● Should have good knowledge on field scouting activity. Also, should be able to distinguish between the damage symptoms caused by insect pests and other nutritional deficiencies and disorders.
● Exceptional active listening, verbal and written communication skills.
● Awareness of industry trends, technology, and developments.
● Previous experience in precision farming techniques would be a huge plus.
● Corporate research experience would be good to have.
