SalaryJob Description
Our client is a well-established, privately held Romanian company operating in the meat and fish processing sector. Our Client supplies modern retail chains, food service operators, and international wholesale partners, competing on product quality, shelf-life reliability, and compliance with EU food safety standards.
Location: Romania (with frequent international travel)
Reports to: Sales Director
Scope: Export markets — key account management + new business development
Travel: High — international travel is a core component of the role
Languages: Fluent English mandatory; additional languages are an advantage
Role type: Commercial — hybrid KAM / hunter model
- Our client has established export relationships across several international markets and is actively pursuing controlled expansion of its international commercial footprint. The Export KAM will serve as the primary point of contact and relationship owner for the company's international partners — responsible for deepening existing key accounts, maximizing portfolio penetration, and identifying and converting new export opportunities.
- The company's export portfolio spans fish and meat-based products including smoked and preserved fish, roe-based specialties, and frozen ranges. The role requires someone who combines the discipline of structured account management with the commercial drive to develop new partnerships — and who understands the mechanics of food export: customs procedures, incoterms, international pricing strategy, and the relationship dynamics of long-term wholesale and retail partnerships.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own and develop the company's portfolio of international key accounts — building long-term partnerships anchored in volume growth, margin improvement, and strategic alignment
- Conduct regular business reviews with key partners; identify opportunities to expand SKU range, increase shelf penetration, and strengthen commercial terms
- Proactively identify and pursue new export opportunities in target markets; develop and qualify new client relationships from initial contact through to signed contract
- Negotiate commercial terms, pricing, and contract structures in line with the company's margin targets and strategic objectives
- Coordinate all export documentation and customs procedures in collaboration with internal logistics and compliance teams
- Maintain accurate account plans, pipeline records, and sales forecasts; provide regular commercial reporting to General Management
- Travel internationally to conduct key account visits, attend trade fairs, and represent the company at industry events
- Gather and synthesize market intelligence on competitor activity, pricing trends, and emerging demand in key export territories
- Collaborate with production and logistics teams to ensure export order fulfillment is aligned with delivery commitments and account expectations
- Support the development of export market strategy in consultation with General Management
CANDIDATE PROFILE — REQUIREMENTS
- Proven track record in export sales or international key account management — direct experience managing international accounts and executing export transactions is mandatory
- Demonstrated ability to build and grow strategic partnerships over time, not just close one-off transactions
- Solid understanding of export documentation and customs procedures (certificates of origin, EUR.1 / EUR-MED, phytosanitary/veterinary certificates for food products)
- Experience in the food industry strongly preferred; familiarity with fish or meat product categories is a significant advantage
- Fluent in English; additional languages (German, Polish, Czech, Arabic or others relevant to target markets) are highly valued
- Strong negotiation skills and commercial acumen; able to protect account margins while investing in relationship longevity
- High mobility and genuine openness to frequent international travel — this is non-negotiable for the role
- Self-directed and entrepreneurially minded; capable of managing a complex account portfolio while simultaneously developing new business
COMPENSATION PACKAGE
- Fixed salary: 2,000 – 3,000 EUR net / month
- Quarterly performance bonus: 20–30% of quarterly salary, tied to revenue, margin, and account retention targets
- Company car for professional use
- Coverage of all business travel expenses
