II. Job General scope:
The Facility General Manager, Plant Manager, General Manager - Chemicals is a key player to develop the team and the technology change to set the site for success for the coming decades.
Hence, we are looking for a strong leader with enthusiasm and vision for strategic and long-term development of the site,
With passion for people development, strong personal safety and process safety commitment and solid understanding in Lean principles that would enable and continue the transformation journey ahead.
III. Main achievements/Missions/Objectives:
- Ensure safe production of products that meet customers’ needs for quality and quantity. Facility comprises of three production units, related utility installations and warehouses and shipping department. The complex chemical processes and the products make this a Seveso rated facility.
- Manage activities of plant’s cross-functional and diverse staff and ensures compliance with all company and external standards/regulations for Manufacturing, Sales, SH&E, Finance, Quality, HR, and Community Affairs.
- Develop a culture where all employees pursue continuous improvement. Ensure improvement of process capability / reliability, resulting in less process variability and reduction in generation of off-quality material.
- Ensure safe, reliable and cost-effective manufacturing of standard recipe products. Ensures that the appropriate Management of Change (MOC) process is followed for modifications and developments. As a leader of the industry we aim for excellent quality management at plant level. As the FGM play a vital role in promoting this mindset and enabling the local team to succeed.
- Demonstrate commitment to effective Human Resource processes, with focus on people development and growth and effectively promote the necessity of excellence in these activities throughout the site. As the FGM promote collaboration within the global client network of experts and the use of our internal standards and tools.
- Effectively practice Performance Based Management by coaching and developing employees, direct as well as matrix reports, and assure effective alignment with the matrix functions.
- Establish and implements local initiatives that enhance effective utilization of plant assets through prudent management of fixed and variable costs. Ensure long-term integrity and fit for purpose of all facility assets. Efficiently manage capital budget through use of a well-defined and aligned long term strategy and solid risk- and opportunity assessment and management.
- Plan and monitor departmental budgets and expenditures to meet financial cost targets and objectives established through formal planning processes.
- Lead community outreach that includes development, implementation, and participation in a facility plan consistent with our neighbor’s choice of philosophy. Support efforts to implement and maintain the Responsible Care® Management System in line with the requirements of the RC14001® technical specification, as applicable to the site/region.
- Develop a well-balanced sustainability culture and ensures implementation of sustainability related plans and programs for the site, according to overall Global sustainability agenda but also local needs. Evaluate efficacy of sustainability programs and overall future needs, recommends, and implements improvements as necessary.
IV. Qualification requirements:
- Bachelor/University/Engineering Degree, preferably in a technical/Chemicals discipline
- 10+ years manufacturing experience, Good In-depth knowledge of chemical continuous manufacturing processes and safety procedures, including prior people/budget management experience.
- Knowledge of Continuous Improvement process and techniques. Strong focus on safety and environmental concerns.
- Ability to organize and manage diverse and multiple resources, including budgets.
- Analytical skills to evaluate a variety of dynamic and complex situations requiring innovative solutions.
- Leadership skills to motivate and lead cross-functional staff. Ability to deal with external contacts and community as needed. May require negotiations with government agencies and other entities.
- Fluent French and English language skills
