Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Day-to-Day Activities Monitoring
- Ensure efficiency and quality of all day-to-day activities including but not limited to Bank Reconciliation, Invoicing, Cash Management, Costing and Inventory, Cost Controls and Payment application.
- Analyze current processes in place ensuring full end-to-end processes are understood and improved.
- Support system and process improvement on day-to-day activities through current IT tools and systems in place or through other alternate solutions.
Financial Reporting
- Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting both internal as well as external in order to provide visibility to Senior Management and other stakeholders.
- All basic reporting is done with quality, timely and with quality comments and explanations. This includes P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash flow, Intercompany and Related Parties as well as contingent liability reporting.
- Manage the statutory and regulatory audits with the external auditors.
- Oversee and drive the budgeting reporting and process in line with Group instructions, collecting the inputs, and comparing the company’s actual performance against the budgeted targets.
- Support and identify any improvements regarding the reporting systems in liaison with Group Controller to ensure reliable and timely reporting in accordance with the Group Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (IFRS).
Credit and Collection Management
- Focus on Credit Management and Collection within an organization that provides extended payment terms to its customers in line with market and business practices.
- Drive the Credit Control Department to ensure efficiency around Credit Management and in line with Group Credit Policy.
- Lead the Credit Committee meeting for the standalone entity.
- Support Group Finance team on enhancing the overall credit process through regular review and system enhancement
Tax Management
- Oversee the preparation of all tax returns, Zakat submissions and other regulatory filings.
- Ensure compliance with Tax regulations including Transfer Pricing in country.
- Support Tax optimization initiatives.
Financial and Business Analysis
- Understand the company business model for generating value and translate the operational metrics into key performance indicators.
- Articulate clearly the financial performance of the business.
- Collaborate with operational leaders to understand the drivers of financial performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Translate complex financial information into actionable recommendations.
- Provide support to the business when applicable, for instance with Tenders, Investment Proposals etc.
Treasury
- Ensure adequate financial resources to fund the company’s investment proposals within the constraints of sound financial management and in line with the company's strategy.
- Ensure cash is optimally managed, along with the treasury implications of multi-currency operations.
- Ensure compliance with loan covenants/ratios and take a proactive approach to flag and work on mitigating any breach.
Governance and risk management
- Ensure robust internal controls, compliance with regulations, and proactive risk mitigation across all financial operations.
Coaching and Team Development
- Ensure the finance organization is commensurate with the needs of the business and is able to support the company’s growth plan.
- Ensure that all members of the finance team are competent to carry out their role by providing training for them, setting development plans with them, or providing them with coaching, to help improve their overall performance.
HSSE
- Ensures compliance to all relevant health, safety, security, and environmental procedures across the department in order to promote a healthy and safe work environment
Related assignments
- Performs other related duties or assignments as directed
Qualification:
- Candidates with a background in the lubricants or downstream sector will be highly regarded. However, we are also receptive to applicants from a broader industrial manufacturing background, provided they demonstrate strong business acumen and experience with publicly listed companies.
- Previous Director of Finance / Senior Finance Manager or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant accounting experience
- Strong experience in business partnering
- Demonstrable commercial experience
- Previous experience of leading and developing a team
- Previous experience in project management, implementation, process improvement, stabilization, and control framework is essential.
- Knowledge of IFRS and local reporting requirements
- Ability to work with IT Systems
