The Company
As one of the leading brands in food retailing, our client has opened the position of General Manager, due to internal group succession planning. The company operates retail supermarket outlets across the country. The are servicing the mid price segment with a large assortment of local and and imported SKU.
The Job
As the general manager you will be responsible for the operations of the entire business. Your direct reports will the Commercial Director, Operations (Sales Director), CFO, HR and Supply Chain head.
The company has identified several areas for growth including new stores, assortment changes and optimisation, restructuring of supply chain, E - commerce and warehousing as well as modern category management.
Your job will be to prioritise the different areas for growth and appoint the applicable project leaders for implementation.
In addition to the above you will be responsible:
- Day to day operation of the chain
- Budgeting, Forecasting, Reporting to the Shareholder
- Highlevel work with key stake holders - suppliers, authorities, tax office, banks etc.
- Hiring and development of key talent
- Market intelligence, benchmarking
The Person
The ideal candidate has already had 10 years plus experience from a retail chain, ideally a food retail chain. You have already worked as CEO of a division or chain and have either worked your way up starting from Sales/Operations or Category Management. The job will require mobility and quite a bit of travel as well as strong personality skills. Russian language skills are a must for this role, we will consider Expat candidates.
