Job Description
Responsible for the continuous improvement of
the processes, tools, and capabilities of people within the Quality Function.
Manages the development, implementation, and maintenance of the plant Quality System. Establishes and maintains quality assurance standards, procedures, and controls.
Manages the plant Quality function in the achievement of Cummins Operating System improvement
objectives for the plant.
Provides functional leadership for achievement of Annual Operating Plan objectives at the plant.
Responsible for the quality of products produced and for work stoppages if a problem is discovered
affecting the product.
Determines quality project priorities and allocates resources to accomplish the work.
Monitors improvement teams to ensure that goals are achieved and reported.
Ensures that quality assessments and audits are conducted in accordance with the plant Quality
System.
Leads post-event reviews to identify strengths and opportunities for improvement.
May manage Value Package Introduction planning, prevention, and protection completion against
manufacturing processes.
Champions Six Sigma standards and projects in the plant.
Leads the identification, analysis, and prioritization of potential improvement projects for the plant;
tracks progress and results of selected projects; leads project completion audit process for the
plant.
Manages and develops Quality Engineers and Calibration and Metrology team at the plant.

Operating System, quality management systems by applying the ten practices to assess business
segment and functional performance, set strategy aligned with business needs and create
consistency of purpose for continuously improving products, processes, services; enables data
driven decision making and removes barriers to enable individuals to have line of sight to the
customer; uses metrics to drive continuous improvement.
Statistical Foundations - Applies foundational statistical concepts required to run appropriate
statistical tests and ensure the quality of data and correctness of the conclusions by using standard
practices, choosing the right sample size, confidence level, level of significance, type of test; applies
knowledge of statistics in cleansing or modeling such as outlier detection, survival analysis, time
series, rank statistics, imputation, probability distribution fitting among many techniques.
Problem Solving - Solves problems using a systematic analysis process by leveraging industry
standard methodologies to create problem traceability and protect the customer; determines the
assignable cause; implements robust, data-based solutions; identifies the systemic root causes and
recommended actions to prevent problem reoccurrence.
Quality System Management - Guides in the practice and application of quality system standards
required by international certification bodies, industry specific regulatory authorities and customer’s
contractually specified requirements
Project Resource Management - Develops resource (expense and headcount) plans using
recommended project management tools and processes to manage resources effectively.
Education, Licenses, Certifications:
College, university, or equivalent degree in required. Green Belt certification required.
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Experience:
Significant relevant work experience required, including supervisory experience.
