Currently we are looking for a Government Affairs Director in Europe, based in Belgium. As senior member of Government Affairs team, you'll be part of a diverse global government affairs team, working across regions, product areas, and functions.
Responsibilities
- Engage with senior policymakers and key opinion leaders in the EU (such as Germany, France, UK, Italy, Spain, Netherland, etc.) to help advance Xiaomi’s policy agenda.
- Establish senior government relationships with main institutions of the Government, Congress and Senate, to expand organizational influence in government and the related industry.
- Develop and maintains the effective relationships with government, associated authorities and all committees, legislatively represents and protects organization interests.
- Working cross functionally with all local company’s business units (in western Europe to whole Europe) to develop Environmental, Social and Governance initiatives.
- Tackles and resolves problems related to government agencies and company communities.
- Trains, mentors and provides guidance to the new team members when needed.
- Drive and develop strategic communication programs that increase organizational brand awareness, understanding and positive perception in EU area.
- Organize and facilitate high level external stakeholders’ visits, events and activities to secure positive engagement with the company (across Europe).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s or other further degree preferred, ideally in Government, Political Science, Law, Communications, Business or other similar disciplines.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience working with an elected official, government agency, legislative groups or in other public policy role.
- Rich experience coordinating legislative efforts by building relationships with governments, relevant industry associations as well as the media in the European political context.
- Proficiency in policy issues relevant to Xiaomi's business operations, such as data security, policy development, international trade and brand promotion across the Western Europe to the whole Europe.
- Extensive knowledge of developing and executing proactive, forward leaning and cross-functional corporate policy proposals and strategies to achieve long-term goals.
- Strong networking, interpersonal, diplomacy and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work across cultures with teams of geographically dispersed people.
- Successful lobbying and advocacy experience.
- Excellent research, writing and communication skills.
