Hiring for a Director – Computer Vision, for a software company whose product supports their clients’ digital marketing through AI-driven precision image capture for product collaterals / catalogues

Our client is pioneering a computer vision AI platform that empowers businesses to create high-impact visual collaterals / catalogs, through their automated self-serve image processing software, thus saving them the costs, efforts and time of building and running a physical studio and requisite skills. Founded in 2018 at Gurugram, India and backed by the most successful set of marquee investors, our client has expanded rapidly in 3 years, to serve 80+ customers across 15+ countries spanning the biggest global brands to the latest MSME start-ups, across sectors, helping them drive 40% better conversions.
Role details:
- Title / Designation: Director & Head – Computer Vision
- Reporting Manager: Co-founder & CEO
- Location: Gurugram, India
- Work hours: 1030 am to 730 pm IST, on weekdays
Role & responsibilities:
- Own CV platform delivery, end to end, with all relevant key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Ensure the computer vision (CV) research teams solve relevant automated Imaging, 3D and Video problems for multiple industries such as Automobile, Fashion, Real Estate, Food and eCommerce, partnering with the Product, Business and App Development teams
- Contribute to and guide team to create first-of-its-kind customized algorithmic solutions, that are not in production anywhere in the globe
- Collaborate with the Data team to ensure that the data pipelines of various problems are well set up and models are being constantly trained and updated
- Collaborate with the Product team, to ensure that AI capabilities are built as democratized tools that provide internal and external stakeholders to innovate in DIY / self-serve mode
- Work with the IT Infrastructure Engineering teams to ensure that the AI models are scalable, fast and have zero to no downtime
- Lead a team of 12 AI / ML experts (PhDs or BTechs from IITs, IIITs, IISc, etc.) and contribute to its scaling to about 25, in a short span
- Own the establishment, development and protection of technical know-how of the CV Innovation Lab
- Develop a dynamic, flexible, transparent, results-oriented and innovative working atmosphere for both team members and partners
- Hire and grow the CV Innovation Lab team and lead their resource and work allocation
- Lead and support team in complex issues
- Contribute to building the brand, including through participation in online and offline industry events, thought leadership forums and suchlike
Candidate requirements:
- PhD in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject from a prestigious university or Masters with deep Computer Vision and GANs project experience
- Authored publications at peer-reviewed AI conferences (e.g. NeurIPS, CVPR, ICML, ICLR, ICCV, and ACL
- 8+ years’ work experience in Computer Vision, Graphics and Image Processing
- 4+ years’ experience in leading high performing deep learning research team in a product-based environment
- Experience and expertise in creating GAN architectures
- Familiarity with Image Processing Python libraries.
- Good exposure to Deep Learning frameworks like TensorFlow/ Pytorch
- Candidates from leading start-ups or major E-commerce platforms or hi-tech companies – highly preferable
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Host of relevant soft skills and competencies
