Job Purpose
The Head, Digital Banking is responsible for developing and executing a digital strategy for Retail Banking and others SBU by creating, implementing, supporting relevant innovative and comprehensive digital solutions and services to various customer’s segments. The holder will advocate, develop and communicate a digital vision and strategy for SBU to all stakeholders across the business. The role holder will also be responsible for driving the adoption of technology across all SBU client segments and operating units. Furthermore, the Head, Digital Banking is responsible for developing to scale an existing digital lending business profitability.
These objectives will be achieved through effective translation of technologies into customer journeys and experiences, as well as applying available, emerging and evolving technologies into the operating environment to extract operational efficiencies across branches and the Head Office in the processing of customer’s transactions
The role requires working with different stakeholders (Internal and External) to build, in collaboration with the Group Office, digital ecosystems required to demonstrate the bank’s digital and innovation capacity.
The role requires that the Head, Digital solutions be a passionate, creative, inclusive and enterprise-minded leader who is responsible for driving the implementation of key digital technology initiatives as part of the bank’s digital agenda.
He/She will lead the way in creating, standardizing, automating, delivering tools and processes required to build and leverage new innovations across the Bank. He will also be responsible to explore emerging technologies to transform the bank’s business models.
He/She is required to leverage digital approaches to increase organizational capability, improve operational robustness, and foster a “digital culture” to better serve internal and external customers.
Formulate and implement the bank’s overall Retail Banking strategy and ensuring a bank wide culture that emphasizes a strong marketing and profit orientation
Generate and develop businesses ensuring overall competitiveness of all branches in the respective markets they operate, and optimal utilization of resources to achieve desired profitability and goals
Develop products and services targeted at the identified and visible segments of the retail market to achieve bank’s dominant positioning in the market.
Support and supervise the Digital Banking
Grow the SBU’s market share of relevant business in line with targets set by the Bank’s Management.
Duties & Responsibilities:
On Digital
- Developing digital strategy for the SBU channels and products
- Have P&L responsibility for the SBU & digital lending business
- Maintain an understanding of external competitive digital developments and their impact on our business and innovation strategy;
- Build alliances for increasing digital footprint
- Lead self-service e-KYC based digital acquisition (savings, fixed deposits) & lending for the Bank
- Optimize business by lowering costs through digitization of processes
- Managing Retail activities as well as digital channels (Mobile banking, internet Banking for Retail customers) for customer journeys, competition benchmarking, customer adoption and usage
- Manage and execute Digital Innovation projects with internal and external business partners, that deliver expected business results meeting compliance requirements, implemented timely and within budget commitments (Universities, Customer Advisory Boards, Start-ups)
- Work with the Group Office to identify and convert unique opportunities required to drive competitiveness in the market
- Identify and prioritizes unique solutions in the market that will benefit the bank and partner for Proof of Concepts (POCs) and vet for scalability
- Incubates and cultivates ideas through partnership with Product Managers and other relevant stakeholders within and outside the bank to define business problems and translate same into unique Products and Services to maintain competitive edge in the market
- Support the building of organizational capability and engagement through the digitalization of Products, Services and Operations to drive business value
- Influence the broader organization in selecting, prioritizing, and investing in technology adoption that will provide the most added value
- Lead experimentation process required to test key Products or Services and ensure learnings while maintaining quality
- As part of the organization’s information security requirements, maintain the security of all information entrusted and comply with the principles and policies in the information security handbook.

- Number and volume of retail and digital products sold
- Execution of strategic projects within agreed timelines, budget and desired outcomes.
- Number of Variable Products/Services created from Ideation to Prototype
- Reduce level of Retail NPLs
- Incremental Revenue Growth through monetization of digital assets

Job Requirements
Education
- First Degree in related discipline preferably Technology related, Finance and Payments. MBA is an added advantage
Experience
Minimum experience
- Over 10 years’ experience in finance, strategy and/or digital experience with at least 5 – 8 years in Senior Management
