Job Purpose(s)
To save guide the Bank’s business model, reputation, financial condition and all statutory requirements, regulations, internal standards, and policies.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with all AML/CFT policies and procedures.
- Support Head of Compliance to ensure control measures are in place to prevent regulatory infractions and compliance breaches.
- Oversee the development and implementation of monitoring plans to test for the effectiveness of control measures put in place and of the processes designed to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, legislations and best practices affecting each subsidiary.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly compliance/control report.
- Monitor newspapers and other media closely for any possible notice of regulatory infractions or other news affecting the Bank
- Facilitate AML/CFT & Compliance training from time to time
- Conduct Spot Checks and Cash Count for all Branches once in a month.
- Daily Reconciliation of TOD report
- Reconcile physical Cash and GL balance daily.
- Verify clearing postings authorizing and balancing with the clearing officer.
- Review daily foreign currency transactions reconciliation ( Deal slips, Blotter and System balance)
- Quarterly stock count review
- Daily review of approved vault limit across all branches
- Investigate cash shortages and overages and write report to management for approval.
- Review of petty cash expenses.
- Ensure all documents are received and archived
- Respond to customer’s complaints and enquiries to the Bank
- Respond to audit confirmation on behalf of customers
- Any other duties as assigned by the unit head or CEO
Required Skills / Working Experience:
- A good first degree from a reputable university
- A relevant post graduate qualification or professional qualification
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in supervisory position.
- Strong and demonstrated experience in handling technical accounting and financial reporting issues.
- Conceptual, analytical and financial modelling skills.
- Competent in the use of standard software (Word, Excel, and Power Point) and banking systems.
- Strong knowledge of institutional policies, procedures, circulars and decisions
- Ability to implement decisions with urgency and firmness.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Motivated, result oriented, dedicated, willing to learn, enthusiastic and a good team player.
- Should be ready to travel to other regions in Gambia when the need arises.
