Antal is hiring for our client, a French start-up PME. The purpose is to scale-up, industrialize and launch on the market a Plastic To Olefins (PTO) technology.
Our client is a small but rapidly growing company looking for a Head of Technology/CTO to lead its technical team. In this role, you'll work closely with the CEO to drive innovation, lead product development, and manage a small team of engineers and developers.

General introduction:
Our client is seeking a Chief Technical Officer (CTO) to oversee the end-to-end development of their technology, including pilot scale up. The CTO will play a critical role in increasing the TRL level of the PTO technology from its current level of 4 up to a level of 8.
The successful candidate will need to have a strong commitment to the company's mission and ambition, as well as an irreproachable work ethic, innovative spirit, and problem-solving attitude. Additionally, the ability to anticipate challenges, prioritize safety and security, and work effectively with partner companies will be key to succeeding in this role.
The CTO will be responsible for engineering and building two pilot units to achieve the desired TRL level, as well as conducting engineering studies for commercial-scale applications. This development will be carried out in partnership with various companies, including pyrolysis technology companies, manufacturers of large-scale induction systems, and catalyst manufacturers.
The CTO will need to create and manage a team to operate these pilot units and perform early engineering activities.
The position reports directly to the CEO.
Main achievements/Missions/Objectives:
The main responsibilities of the CTO would be:
- Building and follow-up of the R&D roadmap
- Selection of main industrial partner and participation to partnership negotiation
- Project management for pilot units engineering and building n/scale up.
- Project management for basic engineering studies
- Building and management of the technical team
- Animation of the scientific council in coordination with a consultant if needed.
- Development of innovative process schemes and conceptual drawings for proprietary equipment’s.
- Follow-up of Intellectual Property protection in coordination with lawyers and councils, including participation to patent application
Qualification requirements:
The qualification needed are by order of importance:
- Engineer/PHD in Chemical processing -Genie Chimique.
- 5-7 years’ experience Experience/Expertise in thermal process engineering
- Competences in steam cracking would be a plus
- Soft Skills and team working sprit, autonomy.
- Flexibility on type of duties to be performed and capacity to work on different topics at the same time – Polyvalent/Multitask
- English fluent.
