Job Purpose
To coordinate the development, communication, alignment and sustenance of the Bank’s strategy for the short- and long-term strategic initiatives to drive business growth.
Duties & Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the CEO, this individual will serve as the key resource coordinating the strategic planning process for the Bank
- Develop and communicate the strategy for the Banking Group and its individual subsidiaries. This includes, but is not limited to, developing an overall corporate strategy and cascading it down for every (Bank) Strategic Business Unit (SBU), Strategic Resource Function (SRF); and Banking subsidiary; Develop and coordinate annual strategic planning process and corporate planning initiatives; Ensuring that employees understand the details of the strategic plan and how their work connects to corporate goals
- Take ownership of decision making that sustains organizational change, test whether the decisions being made across the organization are aligned with the strategy and are creating the desired results and decide on basis of outcome analyses, whether to stay on track or to change direction
- Develop and coordinate cyclical strategic planning process and corporate planning initiatives, leading with a focus towards maximizing market share, shareholders’ wealth and increasing profit by translating strategic objectives into practical plans and goals
- Provide support for the Implementation of the strategy of the Bank, focus towards maximizing market share, shareholder’s wealth and increasing profit by translating strategic objectives into practical plans and goals
- Provide Executive Management with global and regional business scenarios and ad-hoc analyses as required; identify new business growth opportunities or potential operational risks; advising best options to proceed
- Present analytical and value-added insights to Executive Management on market and business trends, consumer innovation and patterns, industry trends, macroeconomic factors and demographic potentials
- Coordinate subsidiaries and Strategic Business Units (SBUs) to ensure tight fit alignment with corporate strategy with the objective of maximizing value-based direction and enhancing business focus and profitability.
- Implement strategies to optimize returns from the Group’s regional and international business through the implementation of the Bank’s mergers & acquisitions agenda
- Present new ideas for growth through understanding competitive actions and market trends in the local and global financial industry with strategic intent of influencing and directing management thought
- Maintain positive regulator relationships (across the Financial Services industry) through proactive engagement and by building beneficial and sustainable partnerships with key stakeholders for the long term
- Manage all aspects of the annual Board Strategy Retreat event including, making presentations on industry insights to assist the Board in its decision-making function; coordinating presentations of each member of the Management Committee (and relevant SRFs) to ensure appropriate message is delivered to the Board.
- Take ownership of self-development and responsibility for implementing team’s learning and development Plans
- Comply with relevant industry policies and regulation, remaining alert to operational risks and compliance issues
