Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Ensure accurate medication order management, including selection, dosing, administration, and dispensing.
- Proactively review and evaluate medication orders to address and prevent possible or actual drug interactions and complications.
- Suggest alternative medications as per formulary when suitable.
- Prepare and dispense medications accurately to ensure patient safety.
- Serve as an informative resource on drug information for both medical professionals and patients, enhancing their understanding and use of medications.
- Collaborate effectively with medical and clinical staff to support optimal patient care.
- Manage the entry and verification of medication orders, including specialized treatments, ensuring thorough checks before dispensing.
- Document and carry out clinical pharmacy operations and interventions with precision.
- Oversee pharmacy support staff, guiding their work to ensure efficient and quality pharmaceutical services.
- Contribute to hospital safety and quality improvement initiatives; provide training and support to new staff and pharmacy students.
- Be available to respond to emergency situations where pharmacological expertise is required.
- Assume the responsibilities of the pharmacy manager or director as needed in their absence, ensuring continuity of pharmacy operations.
- Ability to work across various facilities within our network may be necessary.
Work Schedule Requirements:
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, is a must.
Preferred Experience and Skills:
- Completion of a pharmacy residency is favored.
- Experience in hospital pharmacy settings and/or as an IT Pharmacist is advantageous.
Certification and Licensing:
- Must hold a valid Arizona Registered Pharmacist License.
- Required Certifications: Immediate Basic Life Support (BLS-CPR) certification and obtaining Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within the first six months of employment.
- Preferred Certification: Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
Educational Background:
- A Bachelor of Science (B.S.) or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited institution is necessary.
