Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategy & Planning:
- Define and execute the overall European market entry and expansion strategy for generic pharmaceutical products.
- Conduct thorough market analysis (country-specific regulations, competitive landscape, pricing, reimbursement mechanisms).
- Create short-term and long-term sales roadmaps aligned with organizational goals.
- Business Development:
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard distributors, partners, and clients across Europe.
- Establish direct relationships with pharmacy chains, hospitals, wholesalers, tendering authorities, and other buyers.
- Lead B2B and B2G (Government Tenders) engagements.
- Secure regulatory approvals, where necessary, in coordination with the Regulatory Affairs team.
- Team Building & Leadership:
- Recruit, develop, and manage a Europe-based sales and business development team from scratch.
- Set up key sales offices or local representative structures in priority countries.
- Train and mentor, the international sales team to achieve aggressive sales targets.
- P&L Responsibility:
- Drive profitability by ensuring optimal pricing strategies, margins, and cost structures.
- Prepare and manage budgets for the European region.
- Cross-functional Coordination:
- Work closely with Regulatory, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain, Legal, and Finance teams to ensure smooth execution of market entry strategies.
- Coordinate with manufacturing teams to ensure timely product availability and customization for European markets (e.g., labeling, packaging compliance).
- Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong long-term relationships with key stakeholders including regulatory bodies, distributors, channel partners, and institutional buyers.
- Reporting:
- Provide regular updates to the leadership team on progress, challenges, forecasts, and strategic shifts.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: Master's degree (preferred) with specialization in International Business / Sales & Marketing/Pharmaceutical.
- Experience:
- 20 years of experience in international sales/business development.
- Experience in handling sales of generic pharmaceuticals in European markets.
- Prior experience of building a market or sales team from scratch is highly preferred.
- Knowledge:
- Deep understanding of EU pharmaceutical regulatory frameworks (EMA, country-specific regulations).
- Strong grasp of generics market dynamics, pricing models, tender processes, and product portfolio management.
- Experience with dossier licensing and marketing authorization (MA) procedures is a strong plus.
