Job Title: Lead Engineer – Channels

 Location: Remote (India – Delhi preferred)
 

About the Role

We're hiring a Lead Engineer to own and scale mission-critical messaging systems at the core of our platform. You'll work on backend-heavy, full-stack features that integrate with major messaging providers like Meta and Apple, handling billions of message events every month.

This role demands a deep understanding of distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and third-party API integrations. You’ll lead efforts in designing robust, scalable services and intuitive user-facing components to help our users manage conversations seamlessly.

Key Responsibilities

• Own full-stack delivery of new messaging channels, including design, implementation, and scaling

• Architect distributed backend systems using Node.js, Pub/Sub, Cloud Tasks, and event-driven workflows

• Integrate third-party APIs — managing webhooks, retries, auth flows, rate limits, and schema changes

• Design frontend flows using Vue.js, building modular, state-aware components

• Work across data layers, including MongoDB, Firestore, ElasticSearch, and ClickHouse

• Collaborate cross-functionally with SRE, Product, and Design teams to ensure reliable user experiences

• Establish engineering standards for quality, testing, scalability, and observability

• Mentor junior engineers and support team growth through technical guidance and hiring

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of experience as a backend-heavy full-stack engineer

• Expertise in Node.js, TypeScript, and designing scalable microservices

• Proficiency with Vue.js, Vuex/Pinia, and component-based frontend development

• Strong experience integrating with third-party APIs, especially messaging, communications, or SaaS providers

• Solid understanding of Kubernetes, GCP, Pub/Sub, Cloud Tasks, and async architecture

• Familiarity with distributed systems and the challenges of retries, timeouts, and error handling

• Strong system design and communication skills; past experience mentoring engineers is a plus
