Job Title: Manager – Material Planning & Logistics (MP&L) Operations (Vehicle & Engine)
Experience: 12 to 15 years in MP&L operations, preferably with vehicle and engine assembly exposure.
Location: Pune, Maharashtra, India
About the Role :
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to manage the complete Material Planning & Logistics (MP&L) operations for Client Vehicle and Engine Shops. This role is crucial in ensuring uninterrupted parts supply and smooth plant operations through collaboration with internal teams and international stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operation Strategies Planning:
- Develop, monitor, and control production planning process considering supply chain Objectives based on Op Strat / SAP schedules / Shipping requirements / Production requirements / Supplier constraints / Engineering down time / buffer levels and customer satisfaction.
- Planning daily, weekly and Monthly production for production line based on capacity available, customer schedules and resources available. To ensure maximum capacity utilization and 100% Customer Delivery compliance.
- Reporting out Daily Production Reports (DPR) - including build achievement / JPH / BTS and Downtime.
- Launch Planning – OPR target relief and build planning.
- Monitor downtime and create recovery plan
- Provide regular status reporting to Senior Management as required and facilitate with supportive data for decision making.
- Ensure team specific process documentation, procedures and JLR Way documents are maintained and amended in line with process improvements and operational changes.
- Working cross functionally to deliver results in line with the customer first principles.
2. Material Planning & Logistics:
- Ensure Correct Schedules are released to all Packshop / Suppliers based on approved Opstrat.
- Act as an escalation point on client Parts supply issues, engaging Suppliers / Packshop /Trading Division / Plant MP&L Teams as appropriate to establish root cause and recovery plans and mitigate any risks.
- Drive improvements to ensure Packshop / Suppliers delivery performance is improved and maintained.
- Optimize Raw material Inventory by various continuous improvement projects such as Lead time reduction, System improvements, Disposal of non-moving Inventory and safety stock reduction.
- Engagement in approval of new Plant MP&L Management System i.e Ware House Management System, Parts Scanning System, Kitting, JIT / JIS etc.
- Drive and Achieve Target of Zero Premium freight cost and Zero Obsolescence cost.
- Cover all new subsequent proposed Launches for material availability as per build plan.
- Liaise with Pune Plant Launch / ME Teams for Plant MP&L related deliverables.
- Drive lessons learned workstream.
- Advise on feasibility of additional variant introduction.
3. Engineering Change Management Governance:
- Ensure management of Material Master Data.
- Review and ensure timing of engineering changes (checking support plans / concerns / stock positions / build plan / supplier delivery plans / engineering availability).
- Review and manage control of engineering change brochure.
- Review BoM Amendments.
- Attend and review BoM validation events.
- Review and manage control of obsolete parts.
- Review the process for ongoing MY changes and impact on day-to-day production planning.
4. Key Interactions
- The role requires significant co-ordination and cross functional working with TMPVL, JLR Pune and PNPK Operations (Launch, ME & Quality), JLR India NSC and JLR UK teams includes Packshop, Trading Division, Lead Plants MP&L, STA.
- Periodic reviews with Head of Operations JLR India
Candidate Profile
1. Essential Skills:
- Strong background in MP&L operations in the automotive industry.
- Proven experience in production planning, project management, and supply chain optimization.
- Proficiency in ERP systems like SAP, and advanced MS Excel and PowerPoint skills.
- Sound understanding of warehousing, kitting, JIT and lean logistics concepts.
2. Soft Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with a customer-first mindset.
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and communication abilities.
- Independent, accountable, and result-oriented approach.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Production Engineering (or related field).
