Purpose of role:
The network manager will be responsible for managing, installing and monitoring all the company voice and data network.
The role holder will lead a team of network administrators working across the group, and responsible for the solutions in use in the company, which include: LAN and WAN networks, firewalls and security devices, wireless connectivity, voice and video communication, and all related to areas of network infrastructure.
Reporting to the Infrastructure Manager, the network manager will define and deliver the overall vision, standard practices, and technical solutions for all networks.
Role details:
- Provide architectural and design input to strategic direction for the development of the Data Communications Network and supporting Infrastructure environment.
- Make recommendations for the enhancement of the above infrastructure.
- Supervision, mentoring of the daily activities of the network team.
- Manage the technical implementation of agreed initiatives working with all required parties to ensure successful delivery according to Stakeholder and Project Management Office criteria.
- Management and enhancement of Cisco switching and routing technologies. Cisco, Checkpoint and Palo Alto Firewalls, wireless access points, switching, VLANS, intrusion detection and protection systems.
- Responsible for network monitoring, reporting and bandwidth optimization.
- Developing security and restoration policies, procedures, and controls.
- Conducting diagnostic tests and evaluating performance metrics.
- Preparing and presenting system performance reports to senior managers.
- Knowledgeable in the Disaster Recovery processes of the systems within area of responsibility to meet agreed RTOs (Return To Operation) and maintain DR documentation, accounting for changes in live systems
Required education / experience
- 10 plus years of network administration experience
- Experience of line managing team of networking specialists and specialist 3rd parties.
- Expertise in TCP/IP, support and troubleshooting.
- Understanding of SAN technology and DNS/DHCP administration.
- Exposure to server network connectivity, teaming, TCP/IP networking, switching and routing.
- Expertise in VLANs, HP Procurve and Cisco network switches.
- Knowledge and experience of firewall technologies, ideally Cisco and Palo Alto.
- Understanding ITIL procedures.
- Experience with Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity, Change Control Processes and Network Performance Monitoring Tools.
- Strong experience with technical documentation writing and maintenance.
- Data Centre rack management experience.
Desirable skills / experience
- Awareness of Information Security issues, threats and countermeasures.
- Experience of VMware Virtualisation technology, clustering, resource groups, Site Recovery Manager (SRM).
- Exposure to Cloud, SAAS, IAAS, PAAS connectivity.
- Knowledge of enterprise level storage solutions (NAS, SAN).
