Our Client is a multinational Group with strong presence in East Europe with their food and chemical divisions.
SCOPE of the ROLE: This role is of a National Business Line development leader who will be responsible for providing strategic comercial leadership in Romania by establishing long-term goals, scientific and commercial strategies, plans and policies and excellency in team management. The role has fast promotion potential as it directly reports to a regional European manager abroad.
(S)he will develop and execute a strategy to establish and grow Our Client presence in the Romanian region, further building a leading position in targeted market segments within 3-5 years including:
- Customer development of the current company portfolio and business development ramp-up in excess of 10 % p.a. while significantly increasing profitability;
- Optimization of cost base, leveraging benchmarking and purchasing power;
- Implementation of change management across the company to increase performance and transparency.
Will secure for the company the proper commercial systems, operational controls, administrative/reporting set-up and people governance in place, to effectively grow the organization and to ensure financial strength and operating efficiency.
Regular M&A activities are also part of the scope and highlight the multi-faceted role. Consistent expansion of the footprint is also expected in mid-term.
ROLE OBJECTIVES:
General Operational Management
- Leads according to Our Client Leadership Charter and act as a role model for leadership and staff. Our Client leadership principles give a very large degree of autonomy to each business’ leader (within agreed upon financial and operational performance measures).
- Acts as a Our Client representative, a shareholder representative, a member of the board, or as Managing Director (MD) in the holding and/or operating companies under their scope.
- Fosters a performance-oriented, accountable environment within his/her scope, stimulating open communication, creativity, imagination, team spirit in problem-solving and capitalizing on new business opportunities.
Corporate Strategy
- Spearheads the development, communication and implementation of effective growth strategies and processes.
- Develops strategic plans with the leadership team of their business regarding service and products portfolio sales, production, consumable sourcing and IT solutions to maximize the profitable growth.
- Works closely with key functional leaders on critical business issues such as competitive positioning and competitive strategy, sales force effectiveness, tests portfolio, costs reduction, new business development and other initiatives to drive increased revenue growth. With the leaders in his/her scope, creates a value proposition that will support revenue growth and increased customer loyalty.
- Drives Key Account relationship management as needed, acting as lead "client-care officer" through direct contact with every Client and Partner.
Operations
- Is responsible for driving the company to achieve and surpass sales, profitability, cash-flow and scientific goals and objectives.
- Is fully accountable for the consolidated P&L.
- Is responsible for turnaround and change management.
- Supports the leaders under their responsibility in projects related to the building/ commissioning/ expansion of new and existing sites, as (and if) agreed with the Group Operating Council. Drives M&A due-diligence initiatives and post-merger integration programs.
- Increases operational effectiveness, productivity and bottom-line results by implementing best-in-class processes and metrics.
- Analyzes operating results and their principal components relative to established objectives. Ensures the soundness of the business’ financial structure. Takes appropriate steps for corrective action as required.
- Takes overall responsibility for quality of service and compliance with all legal and contractual obligations in all businesses of his/her scope. Sets up appropriate control mechanisms to detect any relevant deviation.
- Provides interim management for companies without an adequate leader or for specific projects and tasks.
- Ensures group systems policies and processes are adhered to across the business line under his/her responsibility.
People Management
- Recruits, motivates, retains and develops excellent leaders for each company of his/her scope and ensures they do the same for each of their business units and sub-business units.
- Implements strong performance management and team development processes along Group recommendations, using group tools when available.
- Assesses current talent and ensures that there is a highly committed and capable management team in place in each company, and that these leaders are coaching and mentoring potential successors / incumbents and/or bringing in additional talent, as needed.

The Romanian director is responsible for the operational quality and the employees.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Experience:
- Minimum of 8-10 years working experience, out of which at least 5 years as people manager and at least 3 years with full P&L responsibility.
- Proven leadership capabilities and business development track-record.
- Previous experience in a small/mid-size company operating in a very competitive/low margin sector.
- A successful, fast-track career with clear progression that has not yet reached its full potential.
Education
- Undergraduate degree in the area of Business Administration, Engineering, Chemistry or Life Sciences.
- Graduate studies in Science and / or Economics would be an advantage.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- A good understanding of the B2B food and chemical or /and labs business.
