Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- PPA Origination & Business Development: Identify, engage, and negotiate Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with corporate off-takers, utilities, and energy traders.
- Market & Regulatory Analysis: Monitor and analyze Romanian and EU energy markets, regulatory changes, and pricing trends to develop PPA strategies.
- Contract Structuring & Execution: Develop and negotiate Term Sheets, Heads of Terms, and full PPA agreements, ensuring alignment with project financing and risk tolerance.
- Merchant Risk & Hedging Strategies: Assess and implement strategies to optimize project revenues in merchant and hybrid market structures.
- Financial & Risk Assessment: Work with finance teams to model PPA cash flows, assess credit risks, and structure contracts to enhance bankability.
- Stakeholder & Relationship Management: Build and maintain relationships with corporate buyers, energy traders, utilities, aggregators, and financing partners.
- Energy Trading & Market Access: Evaluate opportunities for cross-border trading, virtual PPAs (VPPAs), and capacity market participation.
- Corporate Sustainability & ESG Alignment: Collaborate with corporate buyers to align PPAs with their ESG and RE100 sustainability targets.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Energy Management, Law, or Engineering (MBA or renewable energy certifications preferred).
- Experience: Minimum 3-5 years in PPA origination, energy trading, corporate procurement, or renewable project commercial structuring.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of PPA pricing models, market-based vs. fixed contracts, balancing costs, and flexibility markets.
- Commercial & Negotiation Skills: Proven track record of closing PPAs with utilities and corporate off-takers.
- Regulatory & Market Understanding: Knowledge of ANRE, OPCOM, REMIT, and EU energy policies governing PPAs and market operations.
- Financial Acumen: Ability to analyze pricing curves, model merchant risks, and structure contracts to optimize project valuation.
- Soft Skills: Strong stakeholder management, deal-making ability, and ability to work under pressure in a competitive commercial environment.
