SalaryJob DescriptionOur client ranks among the world’s leading suppliers of Plant & Machinery.This new position will spearhead one of their key procurement and logistics divisions in Asia, aimed at supporting a major manufacturing facility, one of the largest globally.The procurement and logistics department currently employs 28 individuals, divided into three closely knit and interdependent divisions, including the expedited goods function.These divisions report to a highly experienced Senior Procurement Director, who is now seeking to recruit a Manager for Procurement specializing in technical purchasing. This role will oversee one of the three divisions, focused on procuring drawings and technological designs and ensuring the supply of necessary machinery components and services for the team. The selected candidate will lead a team of three technical specialists responsible for product specifications and quality checks.Key responsibilities include evaluating, identifying, and collaborating with relevant suppliers from India, Asia, and globally to ensure the highest quality support for division operations while enhancing overall work efficiency and cost-effectiveness.The role requires travel, primarily within India, for 20–30% of the time to engage with suppliers, assess products and services, and conduct negotiations directly.
Critical qualifications for the ideal candidate include:
- Strong technical knowledge and professionalism, ideally with experience in machinery or industrial engineering.
- Expertise in procurement with a European perspective and experience.
- Excellent command of the English language and superb communication skills, serving as an organizational role model.
- Previous experience with Asian suppliers is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Readiness to relocate to Asia for a long-term assignment, with a specific location to be discussed.
- Willingness to travel, mainly within Asia, approximately 30% of the time.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute global procurement strategies and initiatives that align with the local business strategy and needs.
- Conduct technical acquisitions for the company and its affiliated division, adhering to industry standards, company procedures, and legal requirements.
- Market research and analysis to identify and select strategic suppliers based on departmental needs.
- Evaluate offers, negotiate prices, and manage contracts with suppliers.
- Budget management and adherence.
- Enhance relationships with existing suppliers and identify new ones.
- Prepare procurement and bidding packages, solicit and review quotations, and organize auctions for selecting designers or general contractors.
Leadership and Development:
- Lead and enhance the team's capabilities to achieve optimal performance.
Technical Requirements:
- A minimum of 3-5 years of leadership experience in industrial engineering and manufacturing procurement with proven results and achievements.
- An engineering degree, ideally in mechanical engineering or a related field, supplemented by significant technical experience.
- Experience in tender management with demonstrable outcomes.
