General Objective:

The primary responsibility of Sustaining Product Engineering is to execute engineering support of production products. This includes launching product extensions, expanded capacity & relocations, cost reduction projects (VAVE & COPQ), quote new parts, product improvements & design reviews for manufacturing, customer FFF analyses, and functional evaluations for requested deviations.

Requirements:

• Mechanical Engineer, Mechatronic Engineer or similar degree. Other Engineering degrees can be considered if work experience is related with areas described above.
• Proficiency in English is required.
• 5 to 6 years engineering and Product Design experience: Product Design and Validation / Test Plans.
• Understanding of Technical Standards Not Limited to IPC, USCAR.
• Knowledge of CCS1, CCS2, NACS Standards:
• Fundamentals of high voltage testing (Hipot and IR): Mechanical Testing, Electrical Testing, Environmental Testing
• Handling of Programs such as: PTC CREO and/or Solidworks
• Proficient in all Microsoft suite applications
• CAD skills. A plus if have used one of following software NX, CREO, Ansys or similar

Responsabilities:

1. Communicate directly with Customers to understand and document all product requirements. Communicate directly with supply base to insure that purchased products meet required specifications. Communicate directly with manufacturing plants on any new product or quality-related issues. Practices are applicable for HV/LV products reviews & negotiations.
2. Using Customer design manuals and/or industry standard specifications to properly qualify the HV/LV products. Generate a detailed BOM breakdown for each drawing part number; review BOM details and any special requirements with Costing function.
3. Using Customer design manuals and specifications, translate drawings from Customers into manufacturable detailed prints that can be understood by the production facility to reliably produce the HV/LV products. 4. Ensure that all Customer requirements are clearly specified on the detail product print - including any special requirements, packaging, testing, etc.
5. Clearly communicate to the production facility and to Product Management all special requirements and/or potential manufacturing challenges.
6. Provide support to Sales and Marketing personnel on Customer calls by making presentations and being involved in new application discussions. Also, address any connector or cable assembly problems encountered by the Customer.
7. Respond quickly to Customer issues and support Quality Engineering by driving root cause analysis and corrective actions for material, mechanical, and electrical problems.
8. Manage the new release process by creating NPRs for new part numbers and distributing to all impacted functions. Ensure all required information is communicated, disposition customer cross-reference.
