Project Manager – Automotive Fluids Development
THE ROLE
- Develop differentiated products formulations for the Driveline Fluid / Engine Oil Lubricants business, in line with the agreed business strategy, the OEMs technical requirements and the Global Marketing needs to expand branded products
- Lead or support different types of global or regional projects, to deliver differentiated products and offers to the market in a timely manner
- Continuous interaction with component/additive suppliers, base oil manufacturer and external test laboratories
- Work closely with lab technicians, test engineers, technical support team, global/regional key account manager and marketing specialists to develop and enhance the technical performance of existing and new product
- Plan, execute and document product development support programmes and initiate laboratory work to design and develop experimental formulations leading to final products
- Carry out competitor product evaluations
- Project management including regular updates to all stakeholders at the appropriate level
- Must be able to design and develop new product formulations able to fulfill customer technical specifications
- Expected to develop working relationship with OEM customers and Tier2 component suppliers (external) and regional technical team members (internal)
- Must demonstrate flexibility to adopt non-routine testing strategies to obtain objectives;
- Must be prepared to develop an understanding of work being undertaken and to develop autonomous product development skills
- Must demonstrated capability to structure multiyear projects with high accuracy
- Must demonstrate attitude to manage project risks through appropriate technical decisions
- Must demonstrate a high level of accountability and commitment to deliver projects results in due time, within budget and resources.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Degree in Chemistry (preferable) or Mechanical Engineering
- Experience with lubes development sector or in the automotive industry on automotive fluids formulations development desirable
- Research / technical knowledge in transmission / engine development or application testing desirable A demonstrated track record in problem solving
- Innovative approach to overcoming obstacles and an adaptive approach to achieve outstanding results
- Project management skills (according with PMI guidelines)
- Budget management for relevant project and investment
