The Rail Operations and Commercial Manager supports the development of rail operations in Bucharest and drives commercial initiatives in the region. The role combines operational planning and coordination with business development, client interaction, and performance analysis.Main responsibilities
- Plan, optimize, and coordinate rail operations in the assigned region.
- Work closely with commercial, terminal, and infrastructure teams to ensure efficient services.
- Communicate with partners, carriers, terminals, and infrastructure operators on operational topics.
- Identify new business opportunities and support acquisition of new customers.
- Prepare and evaluate commercial offers in line with company guidelines.
- Collect and analyze data on performance and operational efficiency.
- Support the setup and improvement of processes, standards, and reporting.
- Prepare reports and presentations for company leadership on operational and commercial performance.
Requirements
- Experience in the railway sector, for example with a carrier, infrastructure operator, terminal, or large customer using rail.
- Knowledge of railway processes, technical aspects, and operational flows.
- Commercial mindset and confidence in direct communication with clients and partners.
- Independence, strong analytical thinking, and problem solving skills.
- Good command of English, spoken and written.
- Willingness to travel within the region and nationally, based on business needs.
Preferred profile
- Experience with intermodal transport.
- Knowledge of the Romanian rail and logistics market.
- German language skills are an advantage.
