Sales Director - Food Ingredients
Role Purpose
The position is responsible for leading the sales team and driving commercial success across industry and retail segments in Romania. The candidate will maintain and expand existing customer relationships while generating sustainable growth through targeted new business development. A strong and well-established network within the food industry is essential.
The role serves as a key interface between customers and the development departments. Additionally, the candidate will collaborate closely with sales leaders across other European locations.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
• Maintain, strengthen, and expand the existing customer base.
• Acquire new customers to support long-term business growth.
• Systematically penetrate the market to maximize customer potential, especially within
industrial and retail sectors.
• Conduct customer visits to ensure achievement of sales targets through technical and
commercial support.
• Identify new business opportunities by analyzing customer product portfolios and production requirements.
Planning & Performance Management
• Plan sales volumes (kg, units), pricing, revenue, and contribution margins.
• Take responsibility for revenue, sales, and profit planning, ensuring achievement of
defined targets.
• Oversee cost planning, monitoring, and follow-up to meet budget objectives.
• Provide regular reporting to international sales management.
Leadership & Strategy
• Lead, motivate, and develop the local sales team.
• Translate corporate strategy into actionable plans for the Romanian subsidiary.
• Ensure consistent communication of goals and expectations to employees.
Technical & Customer Support
• Independently plan and conduct product and application tests with customers.
• Develop or support the development of functional and sensory product solutions and
optimize existing formulations.
• Prepare and deliver customer workshops, presentations, trade fair activities, and product
training sessions.
Market Intelligence
• Conduct competitor and market analyses to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
Candidate Profile
Qualifications & Experience
• Degree in food technology or business administration with strong affinity for the food sector.
• Professional experience in sales for industrial customers within the food industry.
• Strong network in the food industry and food retail in Romania.
• Leadership experience in managing small sales teams is an advantage.
• Solid technological understanding of food production; ideally knowledge of meat technology.
• Proficiency in English.
