Role Purpose:
The Back-End Developer will be responsible for building a better, more efficient program and creating a better end-user experience. The role holder will also responsible for working work with team members to troubleshoot and improve current back-end applications and processes.
Role Details – Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Coding and Designing
· Identify and defines application requirements, standards & APIs
· Develop APIs and modern back-end systems to enhance end-user experience
· Integrate user-facing elements developed by a front-end developers with server side logic
· Collaborate with Front-End Developers and other team members to establish objectives and design more functional, cohesive codes to enhance user experiences
· Review implementation processes in terms of coding conventions and architecture
· Compile and analyse data, processes, and codes to troubleshoot problems and identify areas for improvement
Processes and Procedures
· Develop the architecture and implement processes of a high-performance, stable and high-scale e- commerce backend
· Develop processes and ideas for new programs, products, or features by monitoring business requirements, industry developments and trends
· Establish a link between development processes and Product Owners at an operational level
Collaboration and Support
· Guide and coach other chapter colleagues to help solve technical/engineering problems at an operational level, and in methodologies to help improve development processes
Human Capital Responsibilities
· Assist with the implementation of the performance management process by setting objectives, monitoring performance, and provide constructive feedback and provide inputs to senior management
· Provide mentorship for the purpose of developing a continuous talent pipeline for key roles
· Provide inputs on training needs and coordinate with the HC department to ensure facilitation of training requirements
· Develop and implement on the job-training for the team
· Provide inputs for the development of annual manpower plan
· Ensure the implementation of Retail’s corporate policies and relevant procedures
Qualification, Experience & Skills:
Minimum Qualifications/education
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or Engineering; or a Science degree
Minimum experience
· 7+ years’ experience in engineering/tech roles and building digital products in agile environments
Skills
· Strong expertise in working with functional programming languages and distributed, scalable and resilient micro-service landscapes while retaining a hands-on approach
· Highly experienced in maintaining the lifecycle of high-scale public and internal APIs including their design, implementation and depreciation
· Experience with various testing strategies of distributed systems
· Advanced coding skills and experience with implementing high-scale cloud architectures using modern, cloud-based container platforms (PaaS/SaaS)
· Ideally, knowledge of technologies like Apache Kafka, Json, Gradle, and Spring Boot
· English (Full professional proficiency - Required)
