Job Description
Company Overview: Our client is a prominent real estate investment and development group with operations across Central and Eastern Europe. With a portfolio spanning approximately 60 commercial properties across 8 countries, the company holds a leading market position in the region.
About the role: The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing the full accounting lifecycle of 2 to 4 legal entities. The position requires a high level of autonomy, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external auditors. Key areas of focus include statutory reporting, month-end closings, tax compliance, and system data integrity using Microsoft Dynamics.
Location: Budapesta
Work style: 4 days/week in the office and 1 day/week WFH
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate books of accounts for assigned legal entities
- Record and validate financial transactions in the ERP system (Microsoft Dynamics)
- Monitor changes in IFRS, US GAAP, and local tax legislation and apply them accordingly
- Participate in and support external statutory audits
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual closings, including accruals, provisions, and reconciliations
- Prepare financial statements and tax returns (VAT, corporate income tax)
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of all regulatory filings
- Collaborate with suppliers, auditors, tax authorities, and internal finance stakeholders
- Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with group policies
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Chartered Accountant certification is a strong advantage
- Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience, ideally across multiple entities
- Previous experience in the real estate sector is considered a plus
- Proven involvement in statutory audits and tax return preparation
- Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics or a similar ERP system
- Strong knowledge of IFRS; familiarity with US GAAP is an advantage
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial reporting skills
- Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Fluency in English (both written and spoken) is required
