Role Description
The role of a Senior Architect within the organization is to coordinate and be responsible for a series of projects, as well as to lead the team of architects contributing to project development.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for all project stages for the project/projects where designated as Coordinator/Responsible/Developer.
- Generates solutions during the Concept/pre-project stage.
- Develops the design theme for the project for which they are responsible.
- Represents the company at meetings with the client, collaborators, subcontractors, as well as other entities related to design for the projects they coordinate.
- Coordinates the solutions related to specialties and integrates them into the final project – architectural, structural, installations, vertical systems, etc.
- Elaborates and coordinates the necessary studies related to the project – such as the fire safety scenario.
- Verifies the conformity of the studies that form the basis of the project (energy audit, other studies) and communicates with their developers for the issuance of final documentation.
- Coordinates and verifies the team of architects assigned to the project, for which they are responsible (will coordinate 1-2 juniors/mid-level architects – depending on career level, skills, and knowledge).
- Ensures adherence to the delivery deadlines of the architecture team they coordinate.
- Contributes, together with the Technical Director – responsible for the design department, to issuing a suitable budget of allocated hours for meeting deadlines (participates in department organization).
- Adheres to the budget of allocated hours for the project for the Architecture team they are responsible for.
- Responsible for compliance with current regulations regarding the establishment of technical solutions for the architectural specialty.
- Partially evaluates the activity of the architects they coordinate and contributes to improving their performance.
Qualifications / Education
- Years of experience: 8 years – 15 years of general professional experience.
- Graduate of the Faculty of Architecture (Preferably within UAUIM).
- Holds a Signature Right issued by OAR (Romanian Order of Architects) – for at least 5 years (Not required to assume projects through DS, it is an evaluation and validation criterion of knowledge).
- Proven experience of at least 3 years in a similar position as a senior architect (Coordinator, Team Leader, Project Chief Architect).
- Experience in public works tenders is an advantage (Similar Experience – Project Chief Position, Full Project Chief – Recommendations).
Competencies
- Specific experience in projects with the state, focusing on the educational and medical sectors, as well as public administrative buildings.
- Proven experience of at least 5 years in developing complex projects (NOT just individual housing, collective housing).
- Ability to coordinate complex projects regarding installations and ensure compliance with deadlines and budgets.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate efficiently with clients, the design team, and specialists involved in the project.
- Competencies in analyzing and solving specific architectural problems, such as optimizing design for energy efficiency or adapting buildings to accessibility requirements.
- Ability to provide technical consultancy and support for younger designers in the team.
- Competencies in risk management and solving unforeseen situations during projects.
Knowledge
- Knowledge of fire compliance, issuance of documents in accordance with OMAI 180, elaboration and collaboration in elaborating the Fire Safety Scenario.
- Proven experience in drafting written parts (Technical Memoranda – SF, DALI, PT, DE).
- Proven experience in elaborating job specifications.
- Proven experience regarding coordination with other specialties in complex projects/public projects (military units, schools, kindergartens, nurseries, hospitals, and other health buildings, sports halls, offices, etc.).
- Knowledge of legislation in the field (design – with a focus on legislation for mandatory requirements).
- Keeps up to date with newly issued regulations: School Norm, Nursery Norm, MC001, etc.
Essential Requirements (Desirable – Represents an Advantage)
- Revit.
- Knowledge of working within the BIM system.
- AutoCAD (complementary).
- Microsoft Suite (Office 365 – Teams, Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.).
