Job Description
The role:
In this role, you will manage the spending, and sourcing and participate in cross-functional commodity teams to establish strategies and actions across a narrow range of commodities to achieve the best value for the company. You will also participate in activities as part of the Purchasing Team.
Your responsibilities:
- Define and execute Supplier Strategies (Sourcing committee, New supplier introduction, bid list status, Benchmark activities),
- Develop Commodity AOP and forecast, maintain up-to-date all commodity market index drivers, support project purchasing and sales group on market costs development,
- Drive commodity savings, strategy, and new program bid list,
- Support & drive supplier escalations when assigned,
- Solicit quotations from suppliers to support strategies and benchmarking,
- Provide sourcing recommendations to Commodity Manager,
- Work on assigned activities to improve supplier performance metrics related to quality, delivery, service, and cost,
- Work on supplier VA / VE ideas and development activity to reduce costs,
- Work in compliance with Purchasing policies and procedures,
- Issue and maintain purchase orders to local and global supply bases as authorized by the Commodity Manager.
What will make you successful:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, technical discipline, or equivalent work experience required,
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in Supply Chain Management or related work environment,
- 5+ years of experience as a buyer,
- Excellent PC skills (spreadsheets, etc.),
- Excellent communication skills,
- Functional understanding of BOM’s, MRP, QS9000 & related AIAG practices and standards,
- Strong team player with ability to work effectively on cross-functional teams,
- Ability to negotiate,
- Ability to multi-task,
- Solid problem-solving skills,
- Technical familiarity with a range of materials and manufacturing processes desired.
