Our client's latest blender is a masterpiece of electro-mechanical sophistication (if we do say so ourselves), with lots of electronics, a couple of computers, tons of sensors, several motors, built-in diagnostics and remote cellular monitoring. We’re in the process of bringing more versions to market and we’re looking for a smart and capable Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer to lead our firmware and other software development and enhancement activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the design, development and implementation of embedded firmware for the their product line by planning, improving and managing firmware from inception to production.
- Develop firmware for microcontrollers, using C, C++, assembly and other programming languages as needed.
- Allocate resources to complete programming projects, including consultants and contractors, and design detailed plans to ensure firmware is delivered on time and on quality.
- Create technical documentation and protocols for firmware design, implementation and operation.
- Debug, troubleshoot system level problems and maintain existing firmware
- Analyze, program, troubleshoot, and document the hardware and firmware of embedded electrical systems with an emphasis on motion control and digital and analog controls (PID)
- Participate in hardware and firmware design reviews
- Test and validate firmware on evaluation, prototype and production hardware platforms.
- Participate in internal research and development of new technologies, and products.
- Work with Oscilloscopes, Logic analyzers, Signal generators, etc.
- Work closely with Electrical Engineers, Quality Engineers and Mechanical Engineers creating custom solutions and bringing up new and innovative hardware designs.
Qualifications:
- 6+ years of professional experience in embedded electrical systems design and test
- Proficiency with Microchip PIC microcontrollers
- Proficiency with C/C++, assembly, compilers and debuggers
- Proficiency with RTOS architectures
- Experience with collaborative source code control environments such as GitHub and Jira
- Electronics troubleshooting skills with ability to use oscilloscopes, signal generators, logic analyzers, and other lab equipment

- Some domestic and international travel required.
