Position 2342 - Senior MEA Design Developer
The successful candidate will report to the Chief Technical Officer and perform a variety of key roles within a small 8-10 person team.
Responsibilities:
- • Lead the development of Membrane Electrode Assembly (MEA)
- • Develop catalyst and sub-layer inks for the cathode and anode
- • Develop and optimize advanced catalyst and sublayer ink processing application methods
- • Characterize MEA Materials (GDLs, Membranes, Catalysts etc.) for critical attributes
- • Develop MEA sub-component requirements, DFMEA/PFMEA documents & design verification plans
- • Work with production teams to optimize and de-bug processing issues.
- • Characterize catalyst/carbon inks, GDLs & membranes for critical properties.
- • Develop test methods and analyze, interpret, model and summarize characterization data
- • Support and interact with international development team & supply chain
- • Develop intellectual property and technical know-how
- • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of, critically analyze and summarize relevant literature related to MEA
- • Support and interact with business development team for MEA cost reduction and cost modeling
Requirement:
- • Degree in chemistry/chemical engineering or relevant engineering field with strong lab skills and previous experience working in ink processing
- • 5-10 years fuel cell related experience
- • Ph.D or equivalent experience is an asset
- • Strong knowledge of MEA design, catalysts, carbon ink and ionomer properties.
- • Knowledge of fuel cell failure modes and accelerated testing methods.
- • Familiarity with MEA and MEA component characterization methods
- • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- • Ability to work in a fast-past environment with tight deadlines

Position 2343 - Mechanical Engineer
The successful candidate will report to the Lead Engineer and perform a variety of key roles within a small 8-10 person team in 2021 growing to 50-100 people in the next 5 to 10 years.
Responsibilities:
- • Prepare 3D parametric CAD models and 2D drawings for fuel cell components and assemblies (plate, MEA, and hardware parts).
- • Design fixtures and jigs for testing.
- • Communicate with shops and other suppliers to make the parts.
- • Prepare accurate and complete drawings according to ASME Y14.5M design and drawing standards.
- • Understanding engineering concepts and translating them to engineering design drawings.
- • Participate and contribute in design reviews.
- • Working with suppliers and IQC to understand drawing callouts needed for QC and inspection.
- • Reviews supplier data and supplier/manufacturer drawings, as required.
- • Apply and interpret Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- • Perform engineering calculations and prepare presentations and reports.
- • Perform hands-on tasks in the lab from time to time.
Requirements:
- • B.S or higher in mechanical engineering or relevant engineering field .
- • 1-3 years of mechanical design experience (co-op experience is also counted).
- • Experience with SolidWorks (or other CAD tools).
- • Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics.
- • Familiarity with CFD and FEA is a plus.
- • Familiarity with PEM fuel cells is desired, but not required.
- • Basic knowledge of MATLAB or engineering programming.
- • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- • Ability to work in a fast-past environment with tight deadlines.
- • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
- • Ability to speak Mandarin desired, but not required.
Position 2344 - Senior Stack Engineer
The successful candidate will report to the Chief Technical Officer and perform a variety of key roles within a small 8-10 person team in 2021 growing to 50-100 people in the next 5 to 10 years.
Responsibilities:
- • Lead development of fuel cell stack hardware for test articles and products
- • Design interfaces to stack enclosures and fuel cell systems
- • Interface with fuel cell and system experts from around the world
- • Create sub-component design requirements, DFMEA’s & design verification test plans
- • Create trade off analysis, reports and presentations
- • Interface with material, process equipment suppliers and tool manufacturers
- • Participate in design for cost manufacturing studies
- • Write test plans and analyse test data
- • Conduct material process and design verification tests
- • Design assembly and test fixtures
- • Develop quality control metrics
- • Troubleshoot design issues and provide mitigation solutions
Qualifications:
- • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with least 5 years of fuel cell experience
- • Strong knowledge of structural design, design processes, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and heat transfer
- • Prior experience in fuel cell modeling (FEA, CFD, Ansys, etc.) is an asset
- • Ability to work in a fast-paste environment with tight deadlines
- • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
- • Proven ability to document work (drawings, reports, presentations etc.)
- • Willingness/ability to travel as required
- • Previous experience with SolidWorks (or other CAD tools)
Position 2345 - Senior Materials Engineer
The successful candidate will report to the Chief Technical Officer and perform a variety of key roles within a small 8-10 person team in 2021 growing to 50-100 people in the next 5 to 10 years. You should be equally comfortable with literature research and analysis as well as fabricating test samples and prototypes for test.
Responsibilities:
- • Lead materials development activities to improve performance, durability and cost
- • Interface with fuel cell and system experts from around the world
- • Create sub-component design requirements
- • Create trade off analysis, reports and presentations
- • Interface with material, process equipment suppliers and test equipment manufacturers
- • Write test plans, conduct testing and analyse test data
- • Prepare test samples.
- • Generate work packages, project plans and direct junior staff
- • Design test fixtures, specify and procure test equipment
- • Troubleshoot design issues and provide mitigation solutions
- • Maintain knowledge of state of the art in the fuel cell industry
Qualifications:
- • Degree in Materials or Chemical Engineering or equivalent with at least 5 years of fuel cell experience
- • Master Degree or above preferred
- • Knowledge of resins, glues, seal materials, membranes, catalysts, ionomers, ink mixing
- • Strong knowledge of materials and test methodology
- • Prior experience in material durability modeling is an asset
- • Ability to work in a fast-past environment with tight deadlines
- • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
- • Proven ability to document work (reports, presentations etc.)
- • Willingness/ability to travel as required
- • Demonstrated hands on laboratory experience
Position 2346 - Senior Test Engineer
The successful candidate will report to the CTO and perform a variety of key roles within a small 8-10 person team in 2021 growing to 50-100 people in the next 5 to 10 years.
Responsibilities:
- • Ensure a safe working environment
- • Design, build, specify and procure test equipment.
- • Work with component owners to co-develop testing methods, procedures and design verification plans
- • Participate in DFMEA reviews
- • Prepare test samples and conduct testing according to test plan.
- • Participate and contribute to design reviews.
- • Review, compile, translate and report test data
- • Create test reports and present findings to internal and external customers.
- • Perform hands-on tasks in the lab frequently
- • Liaise with external equipment suppliers
Requirements:
- • B.S or higher in a relevant engineering field .
- • At lease 2 years of fuel cell testing experience (co-op experience is also counted).
- • Experience with LabVIEW, MATLAB, Excel VBA or engineering programming
- • Strong knowledge of test methodologies
- • Practical hands on skills and aptitude.
