Their team is growing and we are looking for a senior underwriter with experience underwriting property catastrophe risk in the North America and Europe.
Responsibilities:
- Manage comprehensive communications with global partners including cedants and brokers.
- Develop and implement underwriting strategies and processes; evaluate submissions, and analyze risk exposures.
- Accurately determine coverage needs and client activities in international reinsurance markets.
- Calculate and assign risk premiums, making autonomous decisions based on detailed risk assessments.
- Negotiate terms within the scope of your authority, adhering to established guidelines and aiming for profit objectives.
- Support business planning and contribute to forecasting efforts.
- Represent our firm at industry events, enhancing our standing as a thought leader.
- Foster and deepen relationships with key stakeholders to uncover new business avenues.
- Collaborate within a team setting, providing guidance to junior staff and supporting senior management.
Candidate Profile:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Law, or related field.
- At least ten years of underwriting experience in the insurance or reinsurance industry, specifically within the property catastrophe sector.
- Professional credentials such as CPCU or ACII.
- Proficient in the use of catastrophe modeling tools, especially AIR.
- Exceptional negotiation and communication skills.
- Strong work ethic and meticulous attention to detail.
- Capable of establishing and expanding professional relationships at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and adapt to additional work hours when necessary.
