Salaryfrom 30 EUR/hr - 62 EUR/hrLocationGermanyIndustryIT-Software / Software Services / TestingJob DescriptionAbout the RoleWe are seeking a Senior Software Commissioning Engineer to lead on-site software testing, integration, and commissioning for complex warehouse execution (WES) and warehouse control (WCS) systems. This role spans the full cycle of software verification—from requirements clarification to system go-live—and involves significant collaboration with software development, QA, project management, and client stakeholders.The position includes advanced testing, documentation development, technical coordination, and contribution to product and R&D improvements. It is ideal for candidates with strong experience in supply chain software and large-scale automation environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead software testing and commissioning activities at client sites.
- Create advanced test cases and structured test plans for WES/WCS solutions.
- Run detailed on-site tests to validate logic and performance of new or modified programs.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for WES products and project deliverables.
- Support software project planning and clarify technical requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
- Work closely with QA and Development teams to ensure solutions align with technical capabilities and product roadmaps.
- Provide input for R&D improvements and future software enhancements.
- Participate in development sprints by reviewing requirements and validating sprint outputs.
- Produce lessons-learned documentation after go-live.
- Ensure software systems meet all functional, compliance, and interface specifications.
- Assist with high-tier support tickets as part of lifecycle service activities.
- Mentor junior engineers and help strengthen team capability.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies.
Requirements
Education / Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 6+ years of combined experience with:
- Supply chain and distribution systems
- Warehouse management/control/execution systems (WMS/WCS/WES)
- Material handling automation
- Experience with AutoStore or similar systems is a strong advantage.
Technical Skills
- Advanced knowledge of networking (TCP/IP, FTP, SOA), databases, and system architecture.
- Proficiency in Linux and Windows operating environments.
- Experience with JSE/JEE, C++, application server setups, and diagnosing transactions.
- Strong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
General Skills
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
- Strong time management, problem-solving, and organizational ability.
- Experience in project-based environments and complex technical implementations.
- Willingness to travel nationally and internationally (50–60%).
- Ability to work fully on-site during project execution.
