Senior Strategic Buyer
Scope of the Role:
As a Strategic Buyer within the Local Material Management Department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the seamless flow of materials necessary for production. This involves strategically sourcing, purchasing, and managing the inventory of materials essential for our manufacturing process. You will collaborate with suppliers, sibling companies, internal departments, and stakeholders to guarantee the timely availability of high-quality materials while optimizing costs and maintaining strong supplier relationships.
Main Responsibilities:
- Identify, evaluate, and select reliable suppliers for raw materials, components, and parts required for conveyor system manufacturing.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, payment terms, and conditions with suppliers to secure advantageous agreements and achieve cost savings while maintaining product quality standards.
- Monitor supplier performance, address issues, and foster long-term relationships to ensure a stable supply chain.
- Create purchase orders, track deliveries, and manage inventory levels to prevent stockouts or overstock situations.
- Implement inventory control strategies to optimize stock levels, minimize carrying costs, and reduce lead times.
- Regularly analyze inventory data to identify trends, forecast demand, and adjust procurement strategies accordingly.
- Manage the administrative Intercompany process when parts are distributed to sibling companies.
- Identify potential risks in the supply chain, such as shortages, price fluctuations, or geopolitical factors, and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
- Implement contingency plans to address supply disruptions and minimize their impact on production schedules.
- Collaborate with quality assurance teams to ensure purchased materials meet the required specifications and standards.
- Address quality issues with suppliers promptly and implement corrective actions to maintain product quality.
- Work closely with production, engineering, and logistics departments to coordinate material deliveries and resolve any supply-related challenges.
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to ensure alignment on production schedules and material requirements.
Profile:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience in purchasing and material management, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong negotiation skills and ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in using ERP software and tools. (i.e. Epicor, MS Office)
- Proficient in English – spoken and written.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
