Our Client : Global Investment fund developing its business globally with an well- known American owned harvesting and processing seafood fishery
The SCM Specialist will be required to cover to all aspects of the plant operations and “follow the fish” through the further processing factory in order to gain understanding of the plant operation along with their role in the system.
Summary:
Demonstrate at least basic foundational knowledge required to be successful in manufacturing. As part of the internship, you will lead a process improvement project designed either to improve efficiency or reduce costs in the operation. that it is up to them to get the most out of this experience.
You will rotate with your experience to help the following departments:
· Operations
· Continuous Improvement
· Quality
· Safety
· Fleet Management
· Scheduling
· Purchasing
Key Responsibilities:
· Supports plant operations, plant floor production and support departments including but not limited to; safety, food safety, quality assurance, continuous improvement, accounting, shipping and receiving, warehouse, human resources, research and development, and maintenance.
· Maximizes productivity through proficient use of appropriate software applications which include but not limited to Microsoft Office, JDEdwards software, Power BI, Ceridian, Minitab, InformEAM. Ability to demonstrate knowledge or the aptitude for learning new office applications.
· Works with team members and analyse data to understand complex manufacturing processes to improve key metrics.
· Researches and develops resources that create timely and efficient workflow.
· Learns and demonstrates Continuous Improvement tools such as Root Cause Analysis, 5S, TPM, Visual Management, and time studies to seek continuous improvement in day-to-day operations.
· Maintains ongoing contact with seafood processors, operators, mechanics, supervisors, and management.
· General administrative tasks
Additional Responsibilities:
· Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned
· Acquires knowledge of Company’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions
· Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings
Key Requirements
Education & Experience:
· High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and should have finalised or last year currently enrolled in an accredited college/university program.
· Preferred majors include logistics, management, business administration, and supply chain.
· Min 1 year within SCM internship – nice to have
Work Environment:
· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving equipment and other risks associated with being in a manufacturing environment.
· The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, hearing protection will be provided.
· Due to this being a food manufacturing Operation, floor time requires the donning of a smock, hairnet, slip resistant shoes and safety glasses.
Physical Demands: The employee may routinely lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
