Department
The Materials Management department is responsible for the entire process from (and including) the article assortment management up to and including the delivery of materials to the production units, subcontractors and spare parts warehouses within the set quality and availability requirements and at optimum costs.
Purpose of the position
Ensuring that well-developed suppliers are available for the entire product range, so that the Operational Purchasers can order there efficiently and the production units, subcontractors and spare parts warehouses have the right quality materials and services available, on time and cost-effectively.
Core tasks
- Selecting and contracting (local and international) suppliers in accordance with the vision/policy of the Materials Management department (quality, availability, costs).
- Applying the Vendor Progress Plan to suppliers within the supplier portfolio assigned to the Tactical Purchaser.
- Managing and intensifying partnerships with (local and international) suppliers.
- Feedback from the supplier regarding the technical specifications and physical design to the Engineer and feedback regarding the logistics specifications to the Material Planner.
- Obtain technical knowledge of manufacturing processes such as roll forming, injection moulding, machine building.
- Initiating, coordinating, and participating in procurement projects.
- Checking/additional purchase parameters/settings when creating new items.
- Drafting requests for information and requests for quotation.
- Assessing received offers, possibly in collaboration with the contractor.
- Contributing to the phasing out of materials.
- Compiling periodic reports on purchasing activities for management.
- Drafting, assessing, and managing on-call, framework and investment contracts.
- Contributing to the preparation of the annual Materials Management department plan.
- Drafting the Technical, Commercial, Logistics, Quality and Legal specification towards suppliers in collaboration with the stakeholders within the organization.
Responsibilities
• Selecting (“local”) suppliers for items within the product range.
• Contracting suppliers in accordance with the vision/policy.
• Developing suppliers in accordance with the Vendor Progress Plan.
• Implementing cost savings/reductions on the acquisition of goods and services.
• Relationship management with suppliers.
• Actively contribute to value engineering projects in collaboration with various departments.
• Specifying the purchasing needs towards the possible suppliers in collaboration with the client / stakeholders.

Education requirements
• In possession of a diploma on Technical Business Administration or Mechanical Engineering
Job experience
At least 5 years of work experience as a purchaser/material planner in mechanical engineering or in similar positions.
