Technical Project Manager - North America
Location: Canada/USA remote

What you will do
As a Technical Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in managing and delivering projects related to open source technologies, with a particular focus on OpenZFS, FreeBSD, and embedded systems.
This role demands a versatile individual who is comfortable working in a startup environment, collaborating with large enterprises, and effectively bridging the gap between different teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Planning and Execution:
- Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of projects related to open source technologies, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
- Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Stakeholder Management:
- Collaborate with large enterprise clients to understand their requirements together with the engineering team and ensure project alignment with their objectives.
- Act as a liaison between technical teams, clients, and management, ensuring effective communication and expectation management.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including software developers, engineers, and designers, to ensure seamless project execution.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment that encourages knowledge sharing and problem-solving.
- Risk Management:
- Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Proactively address any issues that may arise during project execution.
- Resource Allocation:
- Allocate resources effectively, including personnel, tools, and equipment, to meet project objectives.
- Monitor resource utilization and make adjustments as necessary.
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- A minimum 4 years proven experience managing technical projects, especially in the open source ecosystem.
- Knowledge and curiosity of OpenZFS, FreeBSD, and/or embedded systems.
- Experience working in startup/scaleup environments and with large enterprises.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Project management certification (e.g., PMP) is a plus.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies is an advantage.
