Candidate profile: The Bank is looking for an organised, focused and efficient individual with extensive experience in Trade Finance Operations in a financial institution. We seek someone with strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to make well-thought-out decisions; the candidate desired must be highly trustworthy, discreet, ethical and resourceful.

LIST OF TASKS AND DUTIES

Responsible for managing the organisation's Trade Finance operations, which include the following:

• Approve plans for daily transactional requirements to optimise trade finance applications.
• Design strategies for better use of trade finance facilities.
• Drive trade clearing and settlement processes to ensure all accounts are updated and arrange money transfers.
• Ensure relevant laws and regulations are followed for trade documents and operations.
• Establish controls to reduce credit and exposure risks in trade operations.
• Establish trade record guidelines and policies to promote efficiency.
• Take the lead in implementing trade finance strategies to promote trade growth generation.
• Lead in the use of technology to improve work innovation and productivity.
• Provide on-the-job training to staff to enhance their professional and career development.

QUALIFICATION / EXPERIENCE / REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Banking or Finance from a recognised university or a professional qualification in Banking or International Trade Finance.
• The candidate must have at least five (5) years of relevant working experience in a financial institution in a trade finance-related role at a middle to senior management level.
• Familiarity with the major trade finance products to be offered to clients, especially syndication, co-financing and correspondent banking products, including letters of credit, structured trade finance and project-related financing, and considerable knowledge of how they work.
• Ability to communicate and function in a culturally diverse and change-oriented setting and, therefore, knowledge of the workings of the main segments of the trade finance markets.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Knowledge of French or Arabic is an added advantage.
• Proven experience in marketing trade finance products. The candidate must demonstrate experience and knowledge of designing and selling structured trade finance products.
• Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including organising and managing human resources to attain goals.
