Job Description
Tasks&Responsibilities:
Strategy, partner selection, and management:
- Define expectations, evaluate existing transportation model, seek partners, evaluate fit to expectations, evaluate, and negotiate pricing, estimate financial impacts, recommend and select partners
- Identify synergies across lanes, modes, to improve costs, service levels
- Define partner onboarding/implementation plans and manage those processes
- Work collaboratively across functions within organization to make the best service/cost decisions holistically
- Build and maintain a culture of productivity and efficiency grounded in KPIs
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment ensuring policies and procedures are followed
Financial management/reporting:
- Drive continuous improvement in expense reporting, allocations, and accruals partnership with accounting
- Monitor invoice flow and payment cycles
- Develop and implement budgeting tools tied to forecasted business volumes and mode/ origin/destination patterns
- Develop and publish periodic reporting that identifies and communicates cost drivers vs budget
Service levels:
- Define, measure, and improve appropriate service level KPIs such as on-time shipping and delivery, transit times, container roll rates and yard dwell, etc
- Transparently share results and areas of success / opportunity with stakeholders
- Identify, justify, and invest in innovations to drive improvements
Technology roadmaps:
- Drive capability roadmaps for multiple transportation technology platforms including inbound supply chain visibility, store delivery visibility, and carrier manifesting
Carrier operations:
- Ensure carrier capacity against forecasts
- Align day-to-day operations with the needs of the business
Team development:
- Effectively manage a diverse team of associates across multiple locations
- Collaborate across functions to avoid silo’s thinking
- Participate in initiatives and proactively provide guidance across functions on issues related to transportation
- Demonstrate positive leadership principles including ethics, transparency, accountability, collaboration, and analytical / fact-based decision-making
Candidate profile:
Ideal candidate will have strong ability to manage change& processes improvements and people and who would be able to influence and challenge existing Transportation working models and practice
- Bachelor's degree in Economics, or related fields
- 4+ years managing or operating in a Transportation/Supply Chain role
- Familiarity with designing / selecting / building / implementing new technologies
- Deep experience driving innovations across multiple relevant modes
- Numerous examples of demonstrated collaborative decision-making
- Thorough knowledge of most or all of the relevant transportation modes and service and access to a professional network to benchmark and understand “best practice”.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including data analytics via advanced Excel or MS Access tools
