Plant Financial Controller - Spain Relocation
Location: Spain | On-site | Relocation required About the Role:We are looking for an autonomous and analytically strong Plant Financial Controller to support the financial performance of a manufacturing operation in Spain. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional looking to develop their career in plant controlling, cost accounting, and manufacturing finance within an international and multicultural environment. The role will be responsible for translating operational and production data into financial insights, ensuring accurate and timely reporting, and supporting management in budgeting, forecasting, cost optimization, and profitability analysis. You will work closely with operational and finance stakeholders and will have the opportunity to further develop and improve the plant controlling function. Key Responsibilities: Cost Accounting & Variance Analysis Monitor and analyze production costs, including raw materials, energy, packaging, and other manufacturing expenses. Compare standard costs against actual costs and investigate significant variances. Identify cost trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement. Provide clear financial analysis to support operational decision-making. Production Performance & Waste Management Monitor production yields and raw material efficiency. Analyze production losses, waste, scrap, and batch failures from a financial perspective. Assess the economic impact of production inefficiencies and recommend corrective actions. Work with operational teams to improve cost control and resource utilization. Inventory & Stock Control Monitor inventory levels, movements, and stock rotation. Analyze inventory-related risks and potential losses, particularly for raw materials and finished goods with expiration considerations. Support accurate inventory valuation and reconciliation. Contribute to improving inventory efficiency and minimizing obsolete or expired stock. Product Profitability Calculate and analyze production costs at batch and product level. Assess profitability by SKU and product line. Support management with profitability analysis and margin improvement initiatives. Provide financial insights for product and production-related decisions. Budgeting, Forecasting & Reporting Support and coordinate the annual plant budgeting process. Prepare periodic forecasts and financial projections. Produce weekly and monthly management reports covering costs, performance, and variances. Provide accurate, timely, and actionable financial information to management and budget stakeholders. Continuously improve the plant's internal reporting and controlling processes. Candidate Profile: We are looking for a finance professional who combines strong analytical capabilities with a proactive, hands-on approach and an interest in working closely with a manufacturing operation. Required Experience: 3+ years of experience in financial controlling, management reporting, cost accounting, or external audit. Experience with manufacturing, FMCG, food production, or another industrial environment is highly advantageous. Strong understanding of cost accounting and financial analysis. Experience with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and management reporting. External audit experience, particularly within a large international audit firm, is also relevant. Technical Skills: Advanced Excel proficiency is mandatory from day one. Strong analytical and numerical skills. Ability to work with large datasets and translate operational information into financial insights. Experience with ERP systems is advantageous. Fluent English is required.
