Our Client is a major Chinese manufacturer of construction, agricultural, mining and engineering machinery. It was founded in early '90 and describes itself as China's largest and the world's fifth-largest construction machinery manufacturer, and sells its products in almost 200 countries. The group is listed on some huge Asian's stock exchanges. For their new sales and distribution site in UK they are now looking to increase their team with a new Finance generalist position.

Ø Scope of the project
Maintain accurate financial records and support the preparation of P&L, balance sheet, cash flow and management reporting for UK management and Headquarters.
Run day-to-day finance operations: bank reconciliations, AP and AR follow-up, supplier invoices, payment requests and employee expenses.
Support month-end and year-end closing, including journals, accruals, reconciliations and supporting schedules.
Support UK tax and statutory compliance, including VAT returns, working together with external accountants and tax advisers.
Contribute to budgets, forecasts and cost monitoring, flagging variances and cost efficiency opportunities.
Prepare audit documentation, liaise with auditors and help strengthen internal controls and finance processes.

Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; ACCA (qualified or part-qualified) is an advantage.
Min 3 years post grad experience, hands-on with an UK finance or accounting role, covering bookkeeping, reconciliations and month-end closing.
Working knowledge of UK accounting and tax requirements, including VAT submissions.
Experience working with external accountants, tax advisers and auditors.
Experience in a subsidiary of an international group, with reporting to a foreign headquarters, is a strong plus.
Strong Excel skills and experience with an ERP or accounting system.
Strong attention to detail, numerical and analytical skills, and a collaborative, confidential approach to sensitive financial information.

Role purpose:
This is a generalist Finance & Accounting specialist with a 3-5 years experience, that will support the effective financial management of the newly set UK business by maintaining accurate financial records, supporting day-to-day accounting operations, assisting with financial reporting and analysis, monitoring costs and cash flow, and supporting compliance with applicable UK accounting and tax requirements. The role works closely with the Finance team, management, Headquarters, external accountants and other internal departments.
Principal responsibilities:
Financial Data Management and Reporting
• Maintain accurate and complete financial records and supporting documentation in line with Company procedures and accounting requirements.
• Assist with the preparation and review of financial reports, including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow and other management information.
• Review and analyse financial data, identify variances or unusual items and report them to management.
• Support the regular financial reporting required by UK management and Headquarters, within reporting deadlines.
Daily Financial Operations
• Support bank reconciliations, cash flow monitoring, expense tracking and general accounting activities.
• Process supplier invoices, payment requests, employee expenses and reimbursement claims in line with approval procedures.
• Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding items.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing, including reconciliations, journals, accruals and supporting schedules.
Tax and Financial Compliance
• Support the preparation and submission of UK tax and financial returns, including VAT.
• Work with external accountants, tax advisers and other professional advisers, providing information and documentation.
• Ensure financial activities follow UK accounting and tax requirements, Company policies and internal controls.
Budgeting and Cost Control
• Support the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts and financial plans.
• Monitor expenditure against approved budgets and flag significant variances.
• Help departments monitor operational and project costs and identify cost efficiency opportunities.
Audit and Financial Review
• Prepare records, reports and schedules for internal and external audits and liaise with auditors.
• Assist with the resolution of audit findings and the implementation of resulting process and control improvements.
Financial Processes and Internal Controls
• Support the development and continuous improvement of finance processes and procedures.
• Ensure approval procedures and internal controls are followed, and raise process inefficiencies, control weaknesses or financial risks with management.
Cross-Functional and Headquarters Support
• Work closely with Sales, HR, Procurement, Logistics, Operations and other departments.
• Coordinate with Headquarters Finance teams on reporting and information requests.
• Assist with finance-related projects, system implementation and process improvements.
