Production Supervisor – Food Manufacturing

About the Role
Our client is a well-established Romanian food manufacturing company with more than 30 years of experience in the processing and production of fish and seafood products.
The company manufactures a broad portfolio including fish roe salads, smoked and marinated fish, fish specialties, chilled products and other processed food products supplied to major retail and food-service customers.
We are currently looking for an experienced Production Supervisor to coordinate day-to-day production activities and ensure that production targets are achieved in line with quality, food safety, cost and productivity requirements.
The position requires a hands-on professional who is comfortable working directly on the production floor, coordinating teams and responding quickly to operational issues.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate daily production activities and supervise production teams across assigned lines or sections
Organize employees and resources according to the daily and weekly production plan
Ensure production targets for volume, productivity, yield, quality and delivery are achieved
Monitor production processes throughout the shift and intervene when deviations occur
Coordinate shift handovers and ensure clear communication between production teams
Monitor the correct use of raw materials, ingredients, packaging materials and equipment
Track production losses, waste, downtime and productivity indicators
Identify production bottlenecks and propose corrective actions
Monitor OEE and other relevant production KPIs
Support initiatives aimed at reducing waste, downtime and production costs
Ensure employees follow recipes, technological parameters, production procedures and work instructions
Ensure compliance with HACCP, IFS, BRC and applicable food safety requirements
Ensure hygiene, sanitation, traceability and biosecurity procedures are followed throughout production
Work closely with Quality to resolve non-conformities and prevent recurring production issues
Coordinate with Maintenance and Technical teams when equipment problems affect production
Support preventive maintenance planning and ensure production equipment is operated correctly
Participate in root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive action processes
Support continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing principles
Train, coach and supervise production employees
Monitor team performance, attendance and compliance with internal procedures
Ensure health and safety requirements are respected throughout the production area
Prepare production reports and communicate results, deviations and operational issues to management
Candidate Profile
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in food manufacturing or food processing
Previous experience as Production Supervisor, Shift Supervisor, Production Engineer, Production Team Leader, Section Manager or similar
Experience in meat, fish, seafood, frozen food, chilled food, ready-to-eat or other high-risk food production is strongly preferred
Experience coordinating production employees and working directly on the factory floor
Good understanding of industrial food production processes
Practical knowledge of HACCP and food safety requirements
Experience with IFS, BRC, FSSC 22000 or equivalent food safety standards is an advantage
Understanding of production KPIs such as productivity, yield, waste, downtime and OEE
Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, Six Sigma or continuous improvement methodologies is an advantage
Ability to identify production problems and implement corrective actions
Strong organizational and people-management skills
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, temperature-controlled production environment
Availability to work in shifts and provide flexibility when production requirements demand it
