About the Role
We are looking for an accomplished Finance Manager who can take ownership of financial accounting, project accounting, manufacturing finance, costing, statutory compliance and business finance.
This is a high-impact role for a finance professional who is comfortable operating at the intersection of Finance, Manufacturing, Engineering, Procurement, Commercial and Project Execution.
The incumbent will play a critical role in ensuring strong financial governance while providing meaningful business insights around project profitability, plant performance, product costing, working capital, procurement efficiency and management reporting.
The role also requires strong hands-on expertise in SAP FI/MM, manufacturing accounting, project accounting and advanced financial analysis.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Accounting & Reporting
Lead monthly, quarterly and annual financial closure in accordance with Ind AS.
Prepare standalone financial statements, supporting schedules and disclosures.
Ensure accurate accounting of provisions, accruals, prepayments, depreciation and period-end adjustments.
Review General Ledger balances and balance-sheet reconciliations.
Ensure accuracy, completeness and integrity of financial records.
Strengthen internal financial controls across accounting processes.
2. Project Accounting & Revenue Recognition
Manage end-to-end accounting for long-term engineering and project contracts from order booking through project completion.
Ensure revenue recognition in accordance with Ind AS 115.
Evaluate contractual performance obligations and project progress for appropriate revenue recognition.
Review project budgets, estimated costs to complete, project margins and stage of completion.
Monitor project profitability and identify opportunities for margin improvement.
Ensure appropriate accounting of:
Contract Assets
Contract Liabilities
Mobilisation Advances
Retention Money
Warranty Provisions
Variation Orders
Claims
Liquidated Damages
Partner with Project Management, Commercial, Engineering, Procurement and Execution teams to validate project costs and revenues.
Prepare project-wise profitability reports, WIP analysis, variance reports and management dashboards.
Support statutory and internal audits relating to project and contract accounting.
3. Statutory Audit & Financial Compliance
Lead statutory audits from planning through closure.
Prepare audit schedules and financial information.
Coordinate with statutory auditors and close audit observations within agreed timelines.
Ensure compliance with Companies Act, Ind AS, internal controls and corporate accounting policies.
Support internal audits and implementation of audit recommendations.
4. Accounts Receivable & Payable
Oversee end-to-end Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable operations.
Monitor customer collections, ageing, overdue positions and credit control.
Ensure timely processing of vendor invoices and payments.
Drive working-capital improvement through effective receivables and payables management.
Ensure compliance with MSME payment regulations and internal controls.
Review customer and vendor reconciliations.
5. Cost Accounting & Plant Finance
Lead monthly Plant P&L preparation and profitability analysis.
Prepare product costing and ensure accuracy of standard costs.
Analyse:
Material Cost Variances
Labour Variances
Overhead Absorption
Production Variances
Inventory Variances
Review BOM costing and standard-cost updates.
Support pricing decisions through detailed product-cost analysis.
Drive cost-optimisation initiatives across manufacturing operations.
Monitor inventory valuation and accounting compliance.
6. Purchase Controlling & Cost Analysis
Analyse procurement spend from both qualitative and quantitative perspectives.
Review purchase-price variances, material-cost trends, sourcing efficiencies and vendor performance.
Partner with Procurement to identify cost-saving opportunities.
Monitor procurement KPIs and purchase-controlling reports.
Analyse inventory movements and material-consumption trends.
7. MIS & Business Finance
Prepare monthly MIS, management reports and financial dashboards.
Provide insights into:
Plant Profitability
Product Profitability
Customer Profitability
Project Profitability
Contribution Margins
Manufacturing KPIs
Support budgeting, forecasting, annual operating plans and rolling forecasts.
Present financial analysis and actionable business insights to senior management.
8. SAP ERP & Process Excellence
Act as the Finance Subject Matter Expert for SAP.
Demonstrate strong hands-on knowledge of:

SAP MM
FI-MM Integration
Manufacturing Accounting
Product Costing
Inventory Accounting
Month-End Financial Close
Ensure accounting processes and SAP transactions are correctly configured and followed.
Partner with IT on SAP enhancements, automation, testing and process improvements.
Drive standardisation and continuous improvement across finance processes.
9. Team Management
Lead, coach and develop a team of 3–4 finance professionals.
Allocate responsibilities and monitor performance against agreed KPIs.
Review team deliverables for accuracy and timeliness.
Build a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
Develop team capability around accounting standards, SAP and finance best practices.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be a CMA-qualified finance professional with 8–11 years of post-qualification experience, preferably from an engineering, capital equipment, industrial machinery, EPC, project manufacturing or heavy-engineering environment.
The candidate should bring a strong combination of technical finance expertise, manufacturing finance exposure, project accounting capability and business partnering skills.
Mandatory / Preferred Experience
CMA – Mandatory.
CA (Inter) / MBA Finance would be an advantage.
8–11 years of post-qualification experience.
Experience in engineering, capital equipment, EPC, industrial machinery, project manufacturing or heavy engineering.
Strong exposure to manufacturing finance and project accounting.
Strong understanding of Ind AS and Ind AS 115.
Hands-on SAP FI/MM experience.
Strong manufacturing costing and product-costing exposure.
Experience managing statutory audits and financial reporting.
Experience managing a finance team of 3–4 professionals.
